Eating Pussy Harder than Sucking Cock

Posted by on Wed, Sep 14, 2011 at 1:30 PM

In this week's "Savage Love" I wrote...

Sucking cock is physically trickier and more taxing than eating pussy. That may seem crazy unfair—hasa diga eebowai—but on the bright side, it frees you from having to get him off with your mouth the first few dozen times you attempt to blow him.

A "Savage Love" reader begs to differ:

I love you, Dan, but not true at all. Have you ever gone down on a girl? Because it is DEFINITELY physically trickier and a lot more taxing than sucking cock. First, if your laying on a bed with your face in a pussy, half your body is falling off the end of the bed and your neck is craned. Then there is the matter of what to do with your arms while eating pussy. I usually use my fingers in the process, so keeping my arms akimbo while craning my neck deep into a vaj gets very uncomfortable very fast (but totally worth it of course!). Flicking your tongue across a clit while twisting your hand, palm up, under your chin when sticking a finger or two inside to rub the top of her vaginal wall—there's a lot to consider.

Then there is the matter of how LONG one usually spends in this position. In my experience, and the experience of friends who I have talked to about this, it tends to be a bit lengthy. Eating a girl out, if you are trying to reach maximum arousal and/or climax, more often than not will take a good amount of time. Not everyone likes the taste, but I happen to love the taste of my girlfriend's pussy, but if you don't like the taste it will add to the discomfort, since you will be tasting it the entire time you are down there. Unlike giving a blow job, where you might taste a little drop of precum before you decide to spit or swallow at the very end.

How bobbing your head up and down on a cock is physically trickier and more taxing I don't understand.

Okay, the gay guy who writes "Savage Love" thinks sucking cock is harder. This straight guy who reads "Savage Love" thinks eating pussy is harder. I'm thinking we need to hear from bisexual guys. Which is it, bi guys? Which is harder: eating pussy or sucking dick? (Bi girls are welcome to weigh in too, of course.)

haha.. because when you're sucking cock your neck is never at a strange angle and you never have to hold uncomfortable or awkward positions for extending lengths of time. Heck, just learning to breathe properly to prevent your respiratory system from going into convulsion is a difficult skill to master....then of course there are all those other moving parts.

All that being said, I can see how eating pussy has it's own set of challenges and I'm eager to hear how someone who's skilled at both compares them.

My experience is that cunnilingus takes between 2-7 minutes before an orgasm is achieved. If that's tiring, the tiniest amount of advance planning should take care of any discomfort, unless you're really just not keen on performing it.

My $0.02: I've dated a couple guys for whom blow jobs were easy - didn't take long at all (read, under 5-10 mins). I've dated a few others for whom it was almost impossible to get them off that way (anything over about 15 kinda sucks, haha). I haven't dated as many girls, but in my experience across both genders, the real difference is how easy they are to get off. Both eating a girl out and giving head are uncomfortable after a while due to awkward positioning :-)

Well gosh, there are so many factors to consider:
a) size, angle and curvature of the cock vs. your throat
b) gag reflex (why won't you just die already!)
c) sensitivity and arousal of the blowee
d) breathing
e) lockjaw
f) smelly/cheesy dicks
g) bad knees (I have worn out my patellas in servicing my community)
h) will the ending be bittersweet?
i) spit, swallow or snowball?
j) will he or she reciprocate, or does my hand get as cramped as my jaw?

Aheh..well, I answered in the original posting - I'm a bi guy and it totally depends on the person.

I love the taste of a woman - actually more than "musky" male smell - and in general, I find I don't mind being down there for a while. As far as the physical discomfort goes - yes, cunnilingus can require some contortions in order to make sure you can still breath, just as keeping an air passage open when a guy is down your throat is challenging. Both might involve contortions. On the other hand, if a guy is difficult to get off, then it's much easier to get a manual assist than it is for your tongue to survive that lactic anaerobic burn when you JUST HAVE TO GIVE MORE PRESSURE and JUST DO IT A LITTLE FASTER. I found the gag reflex harder to master (with a guy) than anything with a woman, though generally women can be trickier in terms of getting the stimulation just right.

In short: it really depends on the person you're trying to get off. There is something nice and definitive about male orgasm which is a bit more 'rewarding' than female. My ex girlfriend gave me lots of pointers on giving blowjobs.

I was pretty bad at sucking cock the first couple times I tried it, but I think that had more to do with nervousness; once I relaxed and got into it, I found it way easier than eating pussy. Part of it is the obvious feedback: If you're doing a bad job on a dick, you can feel the guy get a little softer, but the clues with a girl are less apparent. And it also might be because I'm a dude -- once I started thinking about what I'd like done to my dick, doing it to someone else's was not so difficult.

If you're terminally uncreative regarding position, yeah, oral sex on a man is easier from a total-body comfort. But a long blowjob is much more taxing on your mouth muscles--and those are rarely used muscles, on most people, and therefore ones that get tired easier than your tongue or your hands. As a person who's done both, I could eat pussy all day, but sucking cock gets really tiring after the first fifteen mintues, and I have to take a break. I'd suggest to that reader that they really need to get creative on positioning, or just accept that they, like a lot of straight men, consider oral sex on a woman to be an onerous boring chore instead of fun.

The answer may have to do with the provider's enthusiasm for it. If it is "lip service" than I imagine it can quickly become tiring and if it is approached as the finest of meals to be consumed then one is less likely to notice discomfort of any sort. But I'm a girl who thinks men are the loveliest thing there is, so my thoughts on the subject aren't exactly helpful.

You seem to be interested in only the physical challenges. That's too bad. The mental ones were definitely harder with the women I've been with as they tended to keep it a tight-lipped secret as to what got them off. Whatever. I also enjoy "diabolical" level Sudoku. For what it's worth I married the one who was the least like that.

So assuming we don't have access to suspension bondage gear I'll say that women are an insignificant degree harder to go down on (physically). No one is really very difficult unless they choose to be totally passive.

A blowjob requires somewhat more range of motion, but otherwise I notice no other difference in difficulty.

As for "what to do with your arms", well if you're doing it right you're holding you partner against the mattress so they don't bounce off.

The real mastery comes in rimming. Breathing without breaking the rhythm is a challenge.

I don't buy the "eating pussy is more taxing because of awkward positions" arg. How do you think you suck a cock on your stomach? Mostly by getting into that same awkward position with your neck craned AND THEN "bobbing up and down."

A pussy seems like an infinitely easier organ to orally please from one's back as well. And getting on your knees isn't a recipe for ease either, straight dudes. It's not just hard on your knees, you lower back and the arches of your feet also get involved in the discomfort, because due to the actual height of most guys cocks you'll spend most of your time in a sustained squat not a kneel.

And is anyone seriously considering the post-orgasm discomforts? I'll believe you can get a sore jaw from eating pussy.

(Though before you complain do me a favor: go get a toilet paper roll, stick it in your mouth, and leave it there for 7-10 minutes! And remember if you crush the roll you lose. How's the jaw feel?).

I'm not, however, so confident that eating pussy would rub the inside of your lips raw like you've had sandpaper (or a set of human teeth) slowly striping the skin off!

I can't offer a comparison, being a straight guy who would definitely suck at sucking cock. But as far as eating pussy goes (which is one of my bestest favoritest sexual activities), I'll agree with those above who said it depends on the people involved and their level of enthusiasm. Eating pussy comes easy to me, and I tend to instinctively find not-so-awkward positions to do them (e.g., let the girl rest in semi-sitting position against the pillows with her legs spread open, put your arms under her thighs so you can hold her by her hip while lying on your belly, and enjoy -- never had a problem with strain or cramps); but I do have my better and my worse days, and they influence my results much more than I'd have thought at first. The technique certainly helps -- by all means, do learn as much as you can about it -- but if you don't put your soul into it, your chances go down dramatically.

I note that it also depends on the girl in question -- how much she can relax and let it happen without having weird thoughts. Those who think it's 'icky' or that I'll probably hate them because of the odor or smell tend to be very difficult to please if you somehow manage to convince them to give it a try -- it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, as it were. (I was once with a girl who thought it was fine but couldn't come this way, basically because she was 100% sure that oral sex wasn't "real adult sex" -- we had long discussions about that...). Also, it seems some are physically more or less easy to please orally -- bodies differ, I gather.

If you think that sucking cock is like putting a toilet paper roll in your mouth, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Also, you can totally suck dick lying on your back. But most guys getting sucked don't want to do that much work, even if you can get fucked in the face no problem.

I've tried both, and I like neither very much...um, unless I'm really REALLY horny and really in the mood. It may be my skill or particularities of the individuals but the guys I've gone down on have always been WAY more into it and appreciative than the girls. In that way I think guys are easier. The guys I've been with have been more relaxed about having my head down there and not as self-conscious. (In short, girls have been more difficult for ME.) I think it's also important to mention that, as a guy, I know what areas and things are most arousing for me and generally they've gotten good results on other guys.

It is possible for your muscles to get tired working on both cocks and pussies, so I think that's a wash. But I will make two notes:

1. On the whole, pussies seem more likely to be sensationally tricky than cocks. Exceptions aside, and also acknowledging that just because most cocks are pretty easy to operate doesn't mean there isn't room for improved technique, by and large there are more picky pussies than picky cocks.

2. If you get tired while sucking cock, it's usually pretty easy to use your hand for a bit. That is, there is not an anatomical limitation (barring intervention from whatever position you're in) to doing so. No matter where you are in relation to your partner, you can pretty much always wrap a hand around the cock and take a breather. This is not true for pussies, particularly taking into account #1, above.

Let's say you are lying face down between your partners legs and want to take a break. If she likes clitoral stimulation, you have basically one option: you have to put your hand flat, palm towards the pussy and fingers up, and rub. If you do this, your hand is now blocking the pussy, preventing you from any sort of less intensive but still nice licking (cf, using your hand on a cock and just licking the tip). Plus, this is actually a slightly odd angle for your elbow, and it'll probably get tiring relatively quickly.

Things are slightly easier if she prefers vaginal stimulation, though you may need to shift your body up towards her stomach. This has the added bonus of leaving the clitoris open for light licking during this break, a la the cock-tip-lick mentioned above.

Thus, in general I think it is harder, in most positions, to take a break with your mouth and maintain manual stimulation during cunnilingus than during fellatio. This is compounded by the relatively higher pickiness of most pussies as compared to most cocks; options are already slightly more limited during cunnilingus, and any pickiness is likely to simply reduce these options even further.

Therefore, on the whole, I think it is often tactically harder to lick a pussy than it is to suck a cock, while the difficulty re: oral muscle fatigue is essentially a wash.

Well, I think the problem is how you define "easier" and "more difficult".

You've got three concepts being intertwined. There's

1 Physical difficulty, how taxing it is for long periods of time.
2 Intuitiveness
3 Orgasmic potential.

I see for 1, that giving head to a man is more involved and difficult, when physical factors are involved. 2 is far more personal, some people need more training and tricks than others, especially between person to person. 3 is what some commenters in the previous thread were bringing up, which is fairly unfair method of comparison with no other context. More difficult to *you* is not more difficult to all. Plenty of guys are more difficult to get off through oral as well!

I'm gonna have to go back and read these when I have a bit more time. Good thing you added that last parenthetical, Dan.

I have to say, the two are very different. In a woman there's a lot less area to cover with your tongue. As a woman, her equipment is very familiar, and I had a much better time of it figuring out how to get a woman off than I did the guy at first (kinda funny, but my first few times with a guy, I was too worried about how strong, how hard, teeth, OMG -- look, guys make such a big deal about how sensitive their crotches are, OK?).

But a guy's cock is a lot of fun once you get past that. Hm. I can't say which is more difficult. They are each a lot of fun. Girls can take a long time, though. I've had kinked necks, numb tongues, tangled arms, etc, with either.

The difficulty in a blowjob rests largely on how big the cock in question is. If he's really thick, it's going to be a pain in the jaw. With eating pussy, it all comes down to how long it takes her to get off, which is a problem still present with men. Yeah, sure, guys might come faster from the ol' in-and-out than a woman, but they tend to be about the same when it comes to oral, IME. Or maybe I'm just really fucking good at eating pussy.

So as far as difficulty goes, I've got to say it's sucking cock. My jaw doesn't ache much after eating somebody out, but it's pretty much a guarantee cocksucking will do just that.

Being a straight woman who's never eaten pussy my opinion is based only on my cocksucking experience and having had plenty of experience having my pussy eaten. I have NEVER had a guy involuntarily gag and puke all over me or have trouble breathing, even first timers. Those however are frequently problems when sucking cock, especially when you are first learning, have a hair trigger gag reflex, or an overenthusiastic partner. That's the other thing that isn't a problem with eating pussy, if the woman starts thrusting her hips it's not likely to end badly.

I love sucking cock and could do it until my jaw fell off but it's not effortless.

@44: to point #2 try this: Take your hand and lay it palm down on her pubic mound with your thumb over her clit. Move your thumb up and down or in little circles over the clit while you take a break. This leave the rest of the vulva exposed and available for stimulation, try running your tongue over the inner labia or between the inner and outer labia (which at least for me is an incredibly sensitive area).

Keeping a fist wrapped around and stroking the shaft simplifies cock-sucking considerably--head-bobbing and gagging no longer pertain with an average-sized to slightly below average-sized fella, as little more than the glans is available for sucking/licking.

Or so I've observed.

Lady parts are more complicated. Combine that with longer duration (consider not only the time to first orgasm, but the real possibility of immediately going for a second) and it weighs toward cunnilingus being harder.

What really tips the scale is that a guy can't fake an orgasm. It is a very helpful learning tool to know with certainty if and when he came. The duration and volume of ejaculate are also helpful, and objective, measures of how powerfully he came.

Blowjobs are easier to perform, and easier to get good at, than cunnilingus. On average, IMHO--as with all averages, there are exceptions on the tails of the bell curves.

Finally, a topic on which I am personally qualified to pontificate!

I'm giving the nod to pussy-eating, but it's really a lot closer than either Dan or his reader seem to think. They both can get pretty uncomfortable after a while, but I think with a cock you have a lot more possible angles of approach, and when your tongue/throat starts getting tired you can bring your hands into play without having to break your rhythm very much. With cunnilingus, there's only really one viable angle if your partner doesn't feel like doing a 69, and as Dan's reader noted, you can give yourself some really epic neck pain if your partner requires more than a few minutes of attention. Also, even if you're well-practiced, the tongue just kinda gets tired after a while: with a cock you can let the other guy do a lot more of the work.

(This is all modulo the deepthroating issue, which is hard to learn but easy to do once you've learned it.)

As someone who has more experience with pussy than cock, I have to admit that I've never found eating pussy particularly taxing in any position, except maybe kneeling in front of her while she stands. Straight dude here and unqualified to answer, but that's not going to stop me. I'd say each CAN be as difficult as the other. However, it generally takes longer for a woman to orgasm than for a dude. The customary position for a blowjob (on knees, dick straight up and down) is more ergonomic than the most typical position for cunnilingus (woman on her back, flat on the bed, pussy perpendicular to the axis of the giver's torso). Both require the jaw to work pretty hard, but cunnilingus also requires you to move your tongue energetically well outside of its typical range of motion. With a blowjob, the tongue's pretty much where it always is: inside your mouth.

I would therefore say that cunnilingus is GENERALLY more taxing than a blowjob (specific results may vary, check local listings for more details). Scientifically speaking, I don't see how you could argue otherwise. Maybe Mythbusters could tackle this one? (Hahahahahaha - geeks everywhere would tune in on the off chance they used some sort of force gauge on some dude's jaw while he worked over Kari Byron.)

It does get substantially easier if the woman straddles your face, and might I just unscientifically add: there's nothing hotter than watching a woman writhe above you in pleasure from that vantage point. N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

@28 I am right there with you on the sublingual frenulum tearing. I had a dentist offer to snip mine. At the time it sounded too painful and I didn't see the benefit. Now I am wondering if he was thinking about my future pussy eating. Back to the topic, I've had considerable experience with both. For me and the men I've blown that experience has been seamless. All good. With women, more complex. I've enjoyed it, and there has been ambiguity. I voted for women being more taxing and physically trickier. I prefer giving to receiving in both cases.

My wife and I were discussing this and she went on about how hard it is to maintain suction while giving head. I actually had no clue she was literally sucking cock. She was completely surprised that suction wasn't needed.

Homoflexible woman here. While my lesser degree of experience with men might seem to be the reason why I'm arguing that blowjobs are more taxing, it's not - along with being surprised to discover the flexible part of "homoflexible" in my late twenties, I was also surprised to learn that I actually enjoy giving blowjobs, something that I always thought would be totally icky. And I never really liked going down on women (for reasons having nothing to do with ickiness). That being said, while there are certainly physically taxing elements to the latter, most of my lack of enthusiasm for that activity is that it's boooooooooooooring. And if she sits on a chair and you kneel, it's actually a much less strenuous angle than the analogous blowjob position. Giving blowjobs, in my opinion, is both more interesting and more taxing. At least, if the cock in question is at all sizable, it's definitely more taxing. And, while my starter cock belonged to a trans girl, who was a very gentle introduction to the task at hand, the first man that I blew was enough of an asshole about it (putting enough pressure on my head to make me gag more than once, even though he knew that I had a cold and should have been extra careful given that my nose was out of breathing circulation) that I probably wouldn't have done it again if I hadn't had such a positive experience with my girlfriend. Which is to say that, while I've never had a woman MAKE things be more physically taxing, it's certainly always a possibility with men.

For me, I love giving head to guys and girls and am always enthusiastic to go for it, which makes a big difference in the responses you elicit, I'd imagine. If someone was reluctant to go down on me, or scared they'll do it wrong, or shy, it would be less likely to be good because their anxiety or self-consciousness would make me more uncomfortable, so I'd enjoy it less.
In general, I found that guys take less time but there's more movement in the neck and creating... I don't know, suction? My jaw has gotten tired a few times on the odd time that I couldn't get a guy off within half an hour of blowing him, at which point I'd usually "hand things off" to a less tired part of my body. Or to him.
With women, I find that because my head stays in mostly the same area, I can do it for much longer, which is good because I find I have to go for substantially longer to get a woman off than a man.
I guess I should also factor in that I'm a young woman and I'm sleeping with young women. The women I've slept with have been very sexually inexperienced and have rarely gotten to climax even by themselves, so they aren't really sure what they enjoy. I like direction, without it, it's all guess-work and going down on a woman there's a LOT to guess. The equipment is tricky and varied. It's usually simpler to figure out with guys, especially since the guys I've been with all had been masturbating frequently since they were young (unlike the women) so they had an idea of what they did like.
The men were also more vocal about what they did like. For all that is said about women being good at communication, I've found men to be better at communicating what they like in bed.
But I've had more neck and jaw soreness after going down on women than on men, for sure, even adjusting to comfortable positions. Mostly, due to time length.
Well worth it, though.

@77 - I see actually a few guys on here saying suction isn't necessary. That's what I thought after my first boyfriend who didn't like suction. Then I had several encounters with requests for some suction. Then one request for EXTREMELY-HARD TO-PERFORM-ALMOST-CONSTANT suction. It depends on the guy. Some guys like suction, some don't.
I also think this question is very subjective. If you're with a girl who comes quickly, or you've been stimulating her manually before giving her head, sure it happens sooner and is less taxing. I'm interpreting the question as "What is more taxing when this is the only activity performed on the person - giving head to a guy or giving head to a girl - and nothing prior." (Excluding making out.)

If you are in an uncomfortable, awkward, position while eating pussy, you are doing it wrong. If it's taking forever for her to get off, you are doing it wrong. Maybe it's taking her so long because of your awkward position.
Sucking cock: lockjaw, drymouth, watch out for those teeth! Gag reflex, rythmn.

I enjoy both, prefer penis. But, I find BJ's to be more difficult.

On sucking cock:
You taste a guy the whole time when you're blowing him. You can gouge the insides of your lips from dutifully wrapping them around your teeth so you don't scrape his cock. And if you're a good cocksucker, you use your tongue.

On eating pussy:
Guys who complain that their tongues get sore 'flicking' the clitoris or who hurt their necks nodding or shaking their heads back and forth should just STOP. I've never met a woman who got off on having her clit 'flicked'. Suck, kiss, press your tongue flat or stick it inside as far as your sore frenulum will let you (we do appreciate your sacrifice). If you feel awkward lying on your stomach with your face between a woman's legs, try kneeling on the floor and having her at the edge of the bed; you won't have to crane your neck or support yourself with your arms.

But STILL, sucking cock is easier (and granted, usually more enjoyable) than eating ass, but I think eating ass would be way easier if the prostate were sitting at the top of the anus like the clitoris sits at the top of the vulva.

As a bi girl, I think we are the best barometer of this question because we know how the female equipment works first hand, and you'd think that would help, but the fact is that women are more individualized as to what gets them off, and men are all pretty much the same (suck and it will blow). I think it is actually a close call, depending somewhat on penis size (bigger is more difficult), but overall I've worn myself out more trying to get women off. I don't know that eating pussy is more difficult so much as more awkward and generally it takes longer. So, I'd conclude that as to which is more physically taxing, eating pussy wins, by a hair :)

@83 Some women aren't orgasmic. Some women aren't orgasmic until later in life. Sometimes women are orgasmic, but don't come every time they have sex. I'm one of the latter. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy being eaten out. Of course, most partners do try to get me to come even if I'm not sure I'm going to, and I'm always up for trying. Most women I've been with have felt the same. It's not "wrong" if a woman doesn't climax. Sometimes that happens. I can't be the only person who finds sex fun even when I don't come, right? Just because I don't always climax, doesn't mean I didn't "get off" mentally.
It's not necessarily that the position is uncomfortable, it's that many positions become uncomfortable if you're in them for a long time. If a lady's legs are off the ledge of the bed and I'm kneeling on the ground face-in-her-twat, that's very comfortable for me. But after a really, really long time, it's not anymore. And yes, there is switching positions, but a stop in stimulation can lead to the ramping up of intensity to just... plummet.

I have never kissed a penis, so I wouldn't know how difficult it is.

(Though my wife makes it seem effortless.)

As for kissing a pussy, I usually have my wife lie with her legs over the edge of the bed (while on her back)(We have a high bed, with the top about the height of my upper thighs when I stand) so I can kneel between her legs, or a classic SOMF. The former gives me the best access and range of motion, the latter gives her the same. Both let me use head and hands together (and heart).

I love my wife, and I worship and adore her pussy. As it happens, I was a brass instrumentalist through high school, so I have a (very) well trained tongue and lips. I have been told that I am a very good kisser, but nowadays and for more than 20 years only my wife knows for sure (Personally, if you're doing it right, it IS sex with your clothes on. Nothing like ditching your kids for a little you-are-my-world in the shadows of the Empire State building observation deck.). If you know brass instruments, I can still double, and for a short while triple, tongue, though my embouchure isn't anywhere near what it once was. The double and triple tonguing means moving your tongue in a rippling wave like motion down the length of tongue with strength and speed. That means that since my wife and my tongue are just the right size I can lick her G-spot with the tip, while stimulating her urethra and her clit with progressively more towards the root at the same time (though it is exhausting). Since the kneeling position leaves both hands in play, I can gently massage and pinch her mons and clit from above, finger/knuckle her G-spot from below, and, lately, gently suck on the area around her urethra (or whatever else fits in feedback to her motions) at the same time. Why am I going into detail? Because that's what she's taught me over the course of being partners, and I want to praise my teacher.

Insofar as difficulty is concerned, the enemy of the O is the chowder of our hectic lives. I know for certain that a gushing orgasm will never compete with scheduling conflicts and a bad week at work. It is delightfully shocking how quickly that can change with the kids out of the house for an afternoon romp. I've read that the route to good sex can often lie through the clothes washer, and I need to be better about testing that. My point is cunnilingus is difficult not only from the technique side, but especially from the relaxing the brain side (and that nowadays is very, very hard to do).

Peace.

I can't believe the poll is pointing toward cunnilingus as the more difficult task. I have extensive experience doing both, and I have always felt that blowjobs are more difficult.

It's true that on average I have to spend longer going down on women than I do on men. Everything else is pretty equal on average - stiff neck, sore jaw/tongue/other facial muscles, need for concentration - except for the penetrative aspect, and that makes all the difference. For me, the gag reflex is the biggest challenge, much bigger than considerations of time and mental effort. With women, I can go down for hours without feeling overly taxed just because of the absence of gagging. I don't have an unusually sensitive gag reflex, but it is there, and aside from the discomfort, it makes my eyes water even if I don't deep-throat. The watery eyes lead to a runny nose ... it's a problem sometimes.

Anybody else have that problem?

All of this being said, I find oral sex very erotic and enjoyable regardless of my partner's equipment. Blowjobs just take a lot more out of me.

@76 I was born with a extra long frenulum. My nurse mother made sure it was snipped while I was a newborn. I can't recommend it enough. Go back to that dentist.

(For those curious for more details, the doctors told my mom that they should just wait and see, and if speech therapy didn't help me then they might go ahead and snip it. I think taking care of that for me and not subjecting me to speech difficulties might be one of the best things my mom ever did for me.)

Neck pain, jaw pain, numb lips, gagging, watering eyes, aching knees, arms gettig tired or falling asleep, tired tongue, and just general discomfort after a while.

In my experiences, there are many more mouth tricks one can perform on a cock than a pussy, making it more challenging and difficult.

Cocks are just all around harder ... to give oral to.

Straight guys!!! You can get a sense of the cock sucking experience by going to your neighborhood grocer and picking out the zucchini or banana of your choice. Size matters. Go smaller for these important baby steps.

Having now been married to both a woman and a man, I'd say eating pussy was easier - the *one* time I did it - and the 2,000 times I've sucked cock, it just gets progressively easier as you get adjusted to it. 69 is the obvious position of choice because it's easier to get your tonsils whitewashed when your guy's Mr. Happy is aimed in the right direction and you have a far better chance of relaxing the gag reflex. Moderate to small - but STIFF - for me. I don't like the whoppers. More than a mouth full is a waste.

As far as this survey is concerned, the only way for it to be officially binding is to know the percentage of genders responding. Guys are totally more likely to respond that their cocks are so easy to suck and that pussy is a challenge whether or not they have sucked cock, or eaten pussy for that matter.

personally, I find this question very, very stupid.

As a bi girl, my experience is that most women HATE having their pussy eaten (two out of three ex-girlfriends didn't like it, and it does absolutely nothing for me as well). I think all that hype of pussy-eating-is-oh-so-great is just fueled by straight men wanting a reason to get their girlfriends to suck cock.

Just as much as the urban legend of "most women can only come from having their clit stimulated" - I, for example, can only come from vaginal and/or anal stimulation, which might be one of the reasons why pussy-eating is so boring for me.

So, guys, girls, whatever - just ASK your partner what they prefer. I'd glady take one round of anal sex over ten rounds of having my pussy eaten, and the next guy who is afraid to ask for anal ("women don't like that") and insists on slobbering all over my private parts ("you're a frigid bitch who is afraid of orgasms, I promise you'll love it" - yes, I actually got to hear that more than once!) and boring me to death with it, is in immediate danger of getting thrown out of the window - just as much as the next oh-so-feminist-lesbian/bi-girl who insists that strap-ons and double dildos "are just for pseudo-lesbian-porn made for men".

I am just sick and tired of these stereotypes being promoted everywhere...

And by the way (to return to the original question): I really like giving oral to both men and women. Both is equally fun and equally difficult - and for me, the most exiting thing about it is finding out which stimulation where arouses the partner most... But I ask first, because there is just too many people who just don't like it at all.

Yeah. I'm glad bi girls are also welcome to chime in, "of course". Thanks, Dan. One day I'm gonna start my own advice column & gank all the fat folks & bi people from here. :/

Why not have another poll, & see how many "invisible" bi people are reading you..? From the looks of the above, it's quite a few. Maybe a curiosity poll that asks how many guys/girls read you, are they mono, mono-ish or poly, partnered/single, kinky/vanilla & gay/lesbian/straight/bi/trans/questioning..? These stats would interest your readers, I bet.

Both activities have their challenges. It's almost like asking which sexual position is easiest, everyone's gonna have a fave for different reasons. IME, it varies more in terms of the recipient being able to relax enough to get off, regardless of gender. Guys (on average) seem to be better about saying exactly what gets them there, & girls (my experience only) have more issues being direct, but usually expressing genuine care & enthusiasm brings happy results for all. Best phrases: "How's that?" "Like this"? Short to mumble, & can be answered with monosyllables, gestures or moans. :D

@105 BiGirl,

You precisely adressed the problem and solution of one individual having sex with another. In your case you don't care for getting oral, but love the challenge of giving it. One size will never do in covering all, and the solution is... talking about your wants and needs. So if someone tells you they love the taste and smell of your pussy, would you say no (if they will give you the ass fucking you want because you asked them to)? Compromise and optimize are fueled by communication, and employ the ugliest part of your body to do beautiful things. That being said, getting a partner to talk about what they really want/need in sex is strangely difficult (annoyingly difficult sometimes), and "listening" to their body language is the only recourse (to avoid frustration for all parties). You yourself stated you tire of waiting to be asked for anal, why not do the asking (and the teaching if they lack the experience)?

I don't mean to be critical, only to underscore that open minded communication and boundary pushing are better than fumbling in the dark.

Peace.

There are too many straight guys throwing the vote here! As a bi-ish girl (I like sex w both but only want to be in relationships w men) I unequivocally think sucking cock is more physically demanding. Sure, it depends vastly on the girl/guy in question--there are certainly guys and girls that take 45mins--but the actual arm/mouth muscle worked involved is much more taxing if you're doing it the way most guys like it, with one hand & mouth on cock & one hand on balls/taint/up butt. You're complaining about bending over and falling off the bed whoever wrote this question?? Do you know how hard it is to give a blow job to a guy laying down? Imagine what you're doing while also pumping one arm up & down? You know how tired your arms get in missionary sex? Now imagine that with one arm doing all the work, your back killing you (because it's impossible to lay flat like one can while eating pussy) and with the same level of coordination in terms of hand & tongue placement/movements required. And we haven't even gotten to deep throating & gag reflexes, things that would never even come up when pussy eating! It's no contest.

Drawing your lower lip up over your lower front teeth to protect your tongue may seem awkward at first, and your own facial hair (if any) can still rough your tongue up just a little bit, but it's not even something I have to think about any more: it just happens, and it's way better than allowing your lower teeth to chew you up.

There is no correct answer to this question because there are as many variables as there are types of people. Let's begin with a little pussy eating, shall we? If I'm eating the pie of a beautiful asian woman (petite, well groomed or shaved, with a nice clean pussy) then there is not a lot of effort in getting the job done. She's light enough to put into practically any position and it's not a physically taxing endeavor. On the other hand if you're going down on an over weight woman with a hairy unclean pussy then it's a totally different story (notice the "i'm" eating the petite asian girl and "you're" eating the fat girl).

There are many positions which make eating a nice juicy cunt more comfortable and allow access for your fingers to attack the g-spot with little to no difficulty. So getting into a good position is key, but even that can be a problem because the pussy you're eating might be attached to a woman who has to be in a certain position for her to get off.

The same holds true for sucking cock. An attractive suckee, with a fit and well groomed body and a cock of average to small size isn't all that difficult a task to accomplish. But even sucking that cock can be a chore if the sucker is out of shape. Then you throw in a fat dude with a small dick and no personal grooming it can become quite a chore just to get to the cock to be able to suck it.

In the cock sucking realm there is also the size variable. I know that they are far and few between, but a huge fat cock which requires you to strain just to get your mouth open wide enough to get it in can be a very challenging and difficult experience regardless of the body it's attached to.

Guys' dicks are way easier to bring to climax orally--they just need some friction, it's not complicated for a guy to get off. Plus the physical position(s) of the suck-or is so much easier and more varied. Bringing a girl to climax via oral sex, OTOH, is way more involved: the equipment is just more delicate and detailed, and it takes more concentration, consistency and time to get her off. Plus the lick-or's body position can strain muscles, it's more taxing, because you have to maintain said positions for a longer time.

@103 I'm with you on this. I don't see the practical implications of the question at all. What's the difference which is harder? Is that going to change our enthusiasm for doing it? We love who we love, and make love the best we can. Besides, for the majority of us, the issue is moot, as our sexual preference is just for one sex. We need bear our "burden" bravely/gleefully.

So many of these comments seem to focus on giving someone an orgasm via oral sex. Why is orgasm the goal? I always thought that pleasure and intimacy were the goals. Once you are relieved of the burden of "having" to get someone off with whatever it is you are doing, it all becomes so much more enjoyable. Same thing with "having" to get off from whatever it is your partner is doing. In my book, sex is something that people share, not something people perform.

@122, wise words, ITA.

Answering Dan's question - another bi chick here, and I think eating pussy is muuuuuch harder than sucking cock. I *like* to perform cunnilingus more (I have a strong gag reflex that can occasionally interfere in enthusiastic fellating), but I think it's much more difficult to do properly. Every bisexual friend I've discussed this with has agreed, I'm kinda surprised there have been so many votes for fellatio being more difficult.

I'm a bi woman dating a woman who lets me fool around with guys on the side occasionally. So this past weekend I sucked cock and ate pussy. I voted cock... Using my last experiences as a measure, sucking this guy off left me exhausted and gasping for air (happily!) after rapid deepthroating. Eating my gf's pussy, on the other hand, is comparatively relaxing and easy... My toungue gets a bit tired sometimes, but that's not as hard to deal with as a dick ramming down my throat while I try to maintain suction, keep my teeth out of the way, and not gag.

Sucking cock is much easier, because most men are basically Fisher-Price windup toys. Wind 'em up, and they go, basically the same every time. Women are more analogous to the cockpit of a 747, one whose controls shift location and function from day to day.

I went with sucking cock because eating pussy generally has a lot of hand work involved, which I think cuts down on the specific sucking/eating part of the enterprise, whereas cock sucking is mostly cock in throat when you're really getting down to making it happen and I think having something IN your mouth/throat is more physically and phsycologically taxing.

As a bisexual girl, I honestly think they are equally as difficult. Keeping your mouth moving for an extended period of time is taxing no matter the genitals. And if you are giving a good blowgun, there is much more involved than just bobbing up and down on a cock.

I regularly suck cock and eat pussy. I love doing both. In general I think guys are faster to get off; therefore the easier to perform oral sex on. I do however feel a much greater sense of accomplishment when the women reach orgasm than when the men do.

Another bi girl here - it totally depends on the person receiving. If he/she is ready to orgasm as soon as you touch her/his genetalia, then it's easy regardless of which act you're performing. One thing I would say, on girls it's trickier to do a good job throughout. On guys, it's easier at first but when your jaw gets tired and he's about to come so he really wants to be in your mouth, then it's way more uncomfortable.

If you love what you're doing and are GGG, neither is difficult! I've been told by men that I suck very well. It's not about bobbing up and down, it's about different techniques, slow, fast, licking, sucking, gagging, spitting and enjoying because the recipient is enjoying. And any woman I've ever eaten out says I do it better than most men, but then again I know what I like so that's easy to give!! And I'll repeat, if you love what you are doing you are going be well received!

For me, sucking cock is more physically taxing. I usually use two hands, one on the shaft, and one on the sack leaving me little support. Plus I have to suspend myself over the cock.

Licking pussy allows me to lay down and relax and really focus on one thing while she focuses on the same thing: what my tongue is doing.

As a pansexual poly girl, I can say without a doubt that oral sex on a physically gendered woman is much more demanding, physically and mentally. Without specialized equipment (sex sling, bolsters, or something to get the vagina elevated so that my neck is not twisted and my hands are free from supporting my weight) it takes me about 2.5 times as long to please her.

Bi-woman here in relationship with two transwomen. Generally, women are more difficult for me because of the angles, the length of time and tongue movement required and my acute sense of smell. However, it depends on the person. I've had men who took ages to cum and gave me jawache and women who came pretty quickly.

As a bi girl who enjoys doing both... I can say:

Sucking cock can be hard work! It's more than just bobbing your head up and down, there's pressure with your tongue and cheeks, and lips (to avoid teeth) and I usually have a hand right at the base, or cupping balls or fondling ass, and another hand either propping myself up or touching they guy (or myself). You have to relax and tighten your throat muscles at the right moments to make deep throating feel good and keep up the proper pace to get him off and maintain not gagging. Throat, cheeks and neck all get sore. And, learning what works for each guy *while* they cum, and keep in mind this tends to shoot directly at your gag reflex. Not all guys cum instantly from a blow job either, though yes a blow job is typically a much shorter duration to get your partner off than eating pussy.

All that said. I think eating pussy is more work. The workout with your tongue to keep *consistent* pace and pressure while using one or two fingers right under your chin, while propping yourself up and keeping your neck extended at an angle where you can still breathe. Neck, tongue, cheeks, arms, hand, fingers all get very exhausted very quick and the consistency and duration required become the challenge.

But please, keep in mind a *good* blow job isn't far away from just as much work.

I've done a lot of both, and I say cock is harder. Angles, dangling off beds, misplaced elbows... that's the same regardless. But cock obstructs your ability to breathe AND causes gag reflexes, and we all know that once you start gagging its hard to stop. Lockjaw is another issue. There's far great variety in mouth shape/movement available to you while eating pussy, so that greatly reduces cramping.

I'm sorry, but as one who has done a LOT of both, Eating Pussy is more difficult... not by much, but definitely by a little.

First, there's the problem of differing preferences in technique: does she like direct or indirect clitoral contact? How many fingers do I use, if any? Circular motions or back and forth or a variety of different motions (that goes for tongue AND fingers)? How much pressure? Does labial play excite her, or bore her? Tongue inside or no? Mix it up, or is she only capable of coming in a very specific way? Does she like a guy who will jump right in, or is she a little sensitive and prefers a guy who is more reserved? Meanwhile, I have never met a guy who needed anything more than a trained gag reflex, a wet hand, and some enthusiasm to come.

Then there's spontaneity. I shave every day and trim my nails every week, but depending on the girl and the time of day/week, that might not be enough (especially if she likes tongue penetration or manual/oral/anal play). But you don't want to trim your nails RIGHT before, because even if you file them they might still be too rough. And you don't want to shave RIGHT before, because your aftershave might irritate her delicates. And eating pussy is just like eating dinner - you want to wash your hands immediately before if you're putting your fingers inside her. Without proper planning that can be a spontanaeity killer. You've got a little more wiggle room with blowjobs. Just be well hydrated and excited.

And then there's the act itself. There's the angle of your hand, the angle of your head, the abrasion of your tongue rubbing against your bottom front teeth... there is no one position you can hold for thirty minutes without becoming incredibly uncomfortable. But when a girl says "Just like that" you damn well better keep doing it JUST LIKE THAT. But with a guy, yes there's more actual movement, but when you need to adjust you can keep that wet hand going while you... I don't know, tell him how much you want to taste his come, or suck his balls. That, in my experience, actually tends to expedite his orgasm.

But, for whatever reason, making a girl come is just so much sexier and more rewarding :-)

I'm a straight girl who loves giving head and can generally go without receiving it. My vag is very sensitive and requires more foreplay then guys are usually able to give, efforts at cunnilingus often just end up tickling me, and I have issues relinquishing control. I don't think these are uncommon issues among women, whereas I've never heard a guy complain about getting blown, so I think eating pussy is more difficult.

This Bi girl would like to say that sucking cock is definitely more physically demanding than licking pussy. (You are just covering a much bigger target area).

They both can have breathing and awkward position issues.
The time taken for a guy or girl to get off varies wildly, I've had between 5 mins to closer to an hour for both genders, and with either, if you're at it for a long time you can get aches.

On the plus side cocks are more responsive, so its easier to tell what works on a particular guy, whereas the signals from a girl can be more subtle.

In any case, if you're worried about tiredness, best advise is to make sure you play and tease them until they are gagging for it before you even start....

To the original poster: Ask your sweetie to put a pillow under her lower back. It takes care of the "bending down" part of the equation!

Sucking dick can be hard if you have a small mouth, but it's more obvious as to what to do. Sucking pussy is more complicated, because every woman's different down there, and it takes more coordination. *shrugs* It's all good, so why worry about which is more difficult?

As a bi guy I have plenty of experience with sucking cock and eating pussy. They both have there quirks as to which is technically harder to do. I have found that sucking cock( depending on the cock) is generally easier and less straining. Short of some cock suckers cramp and ones neck getting tired from prolonged bob action it's usually the easier one to perform. In my experience most guys can't hold their load for more that 2-5 minutes anyways so it takes less time as well. I love eating pussy and with my giant hands I touch things women have never had touched before. Having said this getting into position for eating pussy is so important. If your going for a quick lick and on to fucking it's not as improtant. However if your going for orgasm (or multiple orgasms) you need to be in a ideal position so you don't strain your neck while licking and fingering her. I'm over six and a half feet tall so I just get on my knees on the floor and position her at the edge of the bed. This gives complete access to all parts with out straining your neck, let's you work your hands easily and let's you last longer with you tongue. Since most girls take a good 5-20 minutes if not longer to cum from oral stimulation it's best to be comfortable as your gonna be there a short while. As for taste they both have their ups and downs and it's a case by case basis for both sexes. I have come across some nasty tasting cum and pussy and both that are nearly flavorless. All in all sucking dick is easier and less time consuming but eating pussy is generally more rewarding especially when you initiate multiple orgasms in a short time span. Hope this helps with the debate, play safe everyone and have a great weekend.

Anyone who thinks sucking cock is easy has never sucked my cock. I don't come easily anyway and it's especially difficult when someone's sucking because if you stop you have to start all over again.

It's amazing to me to read how different everyone is, and all the different ways people like to please and be pleased. A lot of people mention the use of hands, and 110 says most guys like the use of two hands with ball or ass stimulation, which would leave me trying very hard not to yell and push the poor girl away. No hands, please! And 99 says that the 69 position is a good one for eating cock, which surprises me because there's no way to get tongue stimulation on the sensitive part that way. And all the different comments and preferences on suction as well: just goes to show guys are definitely not all simple and all the same.

@149: Agreed! If that's the "usual" position it's no wonder so many people find eating pussy so difficult! That's an incredibly tricky and uncomfortable way to do it. I find the easiest way tends to be in the 69 position (without her sucking my cock) or with her legs up in the air (held there with restraints if necessary). Kneeling also works well.

@118: Who said that there were practical implications?

I'm straight but If I had to guess eating out is more technically tricky and complex can take a long time and can definitely be physically uncomfortable at times(definitely worth it though) Sucking dick looks like it would be much more physically uncomfortable and tiring much quicker having your mouth filled up by something, I imagine it can also be intimidating in a way that eating pussy is not, she can't exactly choke you on it lol. I have heard from ladies that it makes their jaw tired, eating out just makes my tongue tired.

I have done both and I think that eating a woman out, to the point of orgasm, or in general for that matter, is much, much more difficult than giving a guy head. There are so many things that make the process more trying. Let's cover the basics first - The smell of a woman's vagina, excessive hair near the clitoris (I.E. - hair throughout your mouth or throat COUGH, COUGH.. not fun at all), the taste, the amount of time it takes, your position on the bed, etc. etc. As for a penis, it tastes and smells like nothing (unless the guy hasn't bathed or something, but men still don't have the same scent or taste issues that a woman might have) By the way, I am saying this from my own personal experience of doing both. Giving a guy head is super simple - the only thing that makes it hard, to me, is the strain on your mouth, and the taste of semen (if it even gets that far) but honestly, the taste of semen is nowhere close to the taste of vaginal juice (if it's tart or just flat out disgusting). In addition, a woman's clitoris and vagina is a somewhat confusing and very intricate organ. I am in my early 30's and I still feel like I am learning how to eat a woman out properly. What women like varies SO MUCH. For example, if you were to date a girl for say a year, and she prefers to have her vag eaten a particular way, trust me, if you start dating another woman, there will be some minor similarities in how she wants her pussy to be eaten in comparison to the other women that you have been with, but I guarantee you the process of having her reach an oral orgasm will be very different indeed. Guys not so much. Slow or fast, occasional teeth or no teeth, DONE. That's as deep as it goes for us!

I think eating pussy is more technically difficult, and sucking cock can be very easy (as in the case of my ex, very small cock, came in 5-10 mins) or very difficult (as in the case of my husband, massively thick cock - great for sex, crap for oral and anal - never came from oral before me, only has a few times from me as it takes 20-30 mins which totally kills my jaw). Even a couple of mins of oral on my husband is pretty painful jaw-wise, and I love to give head generally. Having said this though, I've sucked a lot of cocks, but only eaten a little bit of pussy, so I may be biased. I found pussy eating physically much easier though.

For me its easier to eat a woman than suck a man some men are easier some are harder depending on how they like stimulation but if you have a guy like mine who wants to try and shove the whole thing down your throat and make u like the balls which btw is alot further 2 stick out your tongue than u might think WHILE still trying to get some suction going on and trying to breathe and controlling your gag reflex while guarding your teeth from his crotch and trying too hum to get a little bit vibration stimulation going and going up and down while on your hands and knees and NOT being able to take a break by using ur hands for me it's WAY easier 2 eat a girl I use my hand to stabilize my head giving my neck a break while playing with her g spot and licking her clit at the same time

like i said not all men like the same stimualtion techniques this it just what my man likes some guys like more tongue some more suction i have even had 1 ex who liked teeth and a little nibble here and there it all depends on the guy how difficult/easy it is but generally i find women more easy 2 please i can eat a woman for hours but depending on the guy and amount of stimulation he needs and how long he normally lasts i can only suck 5-30 mins before i have 2 either stop or take a break

Bi guy, here.

They both can have challenges, but a guy who takes a long time to cum is going to tire your jaw muscles more than a woman who takes a while. As for those of you with neck kinks eating pussy or sore knees sucking cock, then change you position for Chissake.

As for flavor, I think pussy tastes better than cum, but I like both. Except for bitter jizz, which happens a lot with smokers -- so I avoid them.

What I really want to do is go down on both sexes at the same time.
