Bill O'Reilly Attacks Mitt Romney for Attacking Barack Obama's Foreign Policy

Posted by on Wed, Sep 14, 2011 at 2:03 PM

Starting at 3 minutes in, this video gets weird: Bill O'Reilly attacks Mitt Romney for going after President Obama's foreign policy:

We live in a topsy-turvy world, when Republicans are trying to run on domestic issues and cutting debt and Democrats are unassailable on foreign policy. Besides that moment, it's worth sticking around in this video to watch Romney trying to justify mandates. He's a stuttering, stumbling mess, and if he tried this "states can mandate" defense during a debate, the other Republicans would joyously jump up and down on his larynx.

This has been pointed out before but when a right wing asshole like O'Reilly defends you on any issue, you are probably doing something unethical and immoral.

How many children has Obama killed in his wars in the Middle East this past week? Is anyone even tracking that anymore?

"Crippling sanctions, circle of suspects and attack Iran militarily," I guess you can talk tough if you're wearing magic underpants.

O'Reilly's assistant probably just handed him a memo from Roger Ailes right before the segment telling O'Reilly to hit Romney hard on the issues and challenge him, since he's not too popular with our teabagger base and Perry is ahead of him in the polls, among our teabagging base who tune into Fox News. That way it'll keep the ratings up.

@1 is absolutely correct.

Let it soak in: Bill O'Reilly supports Obama's foreign policies. He also supports Obama's position on the drug war, and indefinite detentions for terror suspects, and prosecuting whistle-blowers, and warrantless wiretaps.

So does Dick Cheney. So does Donald Rumsfeld. So does Bill Kristol. So does Paul Constant. Wait, what?

When will Republicans learn the cold war is over? The Soviet Union is dead. Russia is not our enemy. They are our friends and competition and business partners for shit sake. Stop weaponizing Europe!

@4 Don't use "indefinite", LJM. It's their term, and it's a lie. Say permanent detention, what really happens when they indefinitely detain people w/o trials until they die.

@7, a fine point with depressing clarity. "Permanent detention," it is, goddamn it.

that's the best they've got? obama hasn't punched iran in the face? he de-escalated nuclear tensions with the russians TOO MUCH? in what way does removing missile defense from poland threaten the precious security of the USA? that was some Bush-era overpriced, useless bullshit and even O'Reilly knows it.

at this point, i'm hoping they come to their senses and nominate huntsman instead of this empty suit.

Two words that will sink Romney's campaign: Underwear mandate.

Well, remember, it wasn't all that long ago when these people were saying with no apparent irony that any criticism of the President's policies during wartime was treason.
