This morning, the Ron Paul campaign attacked Rick Perry by suggesting that Paul was the true Reagan Republican. This afternoon, Rick Perry's campaign struck gold with some Ron Paul quotes about Ronald Reagan from a 1987 letter, including this dandy where Paul disowns basically everything that Reagan ever did:

I want to totally disassociate myself from the policies that have given us unprecedented deficits, massive monetary inflation, indiscriminate military spending, an irrational and unconstitutional foreign policy, zooming foreign aid, the exaltation of international banking, and the attack on our personal liberties and privacy.

This letter is classic Ron Paul, in that on the surface a Democrat can agree with 75% of it. Once you start digging and realize he's also against every social service imaginable, though, you realize he's on a completely different road. Anyway: This ought to murder the whole "Ron Paul is the second coming of Ronald Reagan" buzz that the Paul camp started this morning.
