The Book Is You

Posted by on Sun, Aug 28, 2011 at 2:07 PM

Some light Sunday afternoon browsing comes to us from Slog tipper Erin (who delightfully refers to herself as a "generally happy reader").

Corpus Libris is a lot of fun for book design nerds. Book jacket designers don't often want to use full faces on novels and short stories—you don't want to interfere with the reader's idea of what the characters look like—but they need identifiable and attractive cover images, so body parts often figure frequently. I think a lot of these pictures are interesting visual metaphors for what reading is like: You're putting yourself into someone else's body.

Sounds like what Stephanie Meyer intended. Mary Sue-ism.
