Not to be outdone in the endorsement department, Carlo Caldirola-Davis of the Reelect Jean Godden campaign just marched into my in-box with her own August doldrums announcement.

"Saw your post on Slog about MTJ endorsing Forch," Caldirola-Davis wrote. "Wanted to let you know that Slog celebrity Joe Fitzgibbon endorsed Jean Godden this week. Don't want to rain on Bobby's parade, but... Eeeee!"

Neither Fitzgibbon nor Camp Godden could immediately provide the rationale behind Fitgibbon's endorsement.

UPDATE: Caldirola-Davis delivers the following endorsement quote from Fitzgibbon: "Jean has shown impressive leadership by balancing the city's budget in a compassionate and responsible way. She has been a valuable supporter of critical transportation investments in our region. I look forward to continuing to work with Jean on behalf of working people and our environment, both at the city and state level."

And Fitzgibbon himself writes to say: "Yes, I'm supporting Jean. I appreciate her support of paid sick leave and the transportation investment package on the ballot this fall. By all accounts, Bobby Forch is a good guy, but I haven't heard from him a compelling reason that Jean needs to go."
