Phil Hinkle is Completely Heterosexual

Posted by on Wed, Aug 24, 2011 at 9:23 AM

I'm gay and I've never hired an 18-year-old male hooker off of Craiglist shortly after voting to ban gay marriage—so, hey, for all I know fucking boy hookers is proof that a guy is straight. (Shit—now this song is stuck in my head.)

Can you really get boy whores for $80? I thought sex workers cost more than that.

the idiot formerly known as kk 5
This guy is going to treat his constituents to months of ads and stories reminding them of what a sleaze bag he is. Delightful.

He didn't claim to be heterosexual, so he must be one of those other GBLPDIDDYBLT designations. If taken at his word that he's not gay, doesn't know how these actions came about, and is seeking "grey matter" help, doesn't that indicate a mental health issue which could affect his ability to represent competently.

So if I get this straight, for the GOP, being gay is a reason to resign, but offering money and BlackBerries and stuff to a kid to shut up about it is ok...

Why did they want Weiner to resign, then? And, more importantly, where are those moral values they constantly brag about?

I agree with 5. This is going to be so much fun.

Everybody knows this is only gay if your balls touch.

I'm not surprised that Phil Hinkle isn't gay. Ted Haggard, George Rekers and Larry Craig aren't gay, either. You see, on the right wing, you're not gay no matter how many bathrooms you cruise or how many rentboys lift your luggage. Not as long as you deny being gay. But as soon as you admit to being gay, you're gay, and everybody knows that there's no such thing as a gay conservative. Therefore they don't admit it, because they can't. Because they aren't. They're just virtuous men who sometimes, unaccoutably, cruise tea rooms or hire rent boys.

Is this even news anymore? I've come to assume that anti-gay GOP lawmakers are picking up boys.

@1 The GOP has always been about exploiting child labor on behalf of the rich and powerful.

Anthony Weiner didn't even try to meet with any of his text receivers. Or offer them money. or Blackberrys. That must be the problem.

BUT ANTHONY WEINER WAS A DANGER TO TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE! See, he was trying to philander around on his very own wife-person, with other normative cisgendered vagina-havers. That's bad, bad! This guy was protecting the sanctity of man-and-woman marriage by instead getting with a young boy. Don't you see???

very bad homo 16
You're only gay if you try to marry that boy hooker.

@ 16 - True. And Hinkle made it clear this was not going to be a long term arrangement, so there you go: not gay.

@1 & @12 You're both correct. Real sex workers know that discretion is a big part of what they're selling. Unless you're making porn, of course.

Yes, Hinkle is a disgusting hypocrite, but the kid is no prize either.

@ 18 - The kid had put an ad out looking for a sugar daddy. That is not actual sex work. It's a mid-to-long term relationship between a (usually) rather young person and a (usually) rather older man, the latter of which is also rather generous towards the former.

In many instances, this type of relationship is open for all to see, in the sense that both consider this to be their main relationship, just with a distinct imbalance of economic power.

Hugh Hefner is a sugar daddy, Donald Trump is a sugar daddy, J. Howard Marshall was a sugar daddy, and many a heterosexual married man has been a sugar daddy. None of them hide that fact, although without actually stating that they are.

Having established that the kid is not actually a sex worker (he wouldn't have accepted that little money if he were), I don't understand why you judge him as if he'd somehow transgressed the rules of his profession. He was just a kid looking for a sugar daddy, not a hypocrite like Hinkle.

@19: Why wouldn't you consider being a sugar baby a type of sex work? I understand it's not just about the sex, but that's certainly part of it. Does a sex worker stop being a sex worker by sticking to one client?
Posted by BlackRose on August 24, 2011 at 10:01 PM

@ 21 - Because that would mean most marriages throughout history would have to be considered sex work. I might agree with that, but I'm not sure the persons involved would.
