A homeless woman sustained a compound fracture and her husband, head wounds, while allegedly thwarting a robbery-in-progress last Friday at Airport Way South and South Lucile Street.

According to a police report, trouble began when the couple spotted a man dragging two large tin sheets—the kind commonly used for roofing—away from a metal scrap yard. As a part-time employee of the scrap yard, the husband intervened and told the man to take the sheets back. In return, the suspect reportedly "became enraged and screamed, 'This is my shit!'" then dropped "his shit" and reportedly began throwing large rocks at the couple.

The police report notes that, "The rocks in this area are large jagged rocks that have been placed there by the railroad company for railroad track stability. The suspect had an infinite number of these rocks available and he was throwing them at the victims wildly."

The husband told police that he responded by throwing rocks back at the suspect—but not before the suspect landed a few crippling blows. The police report notes that the wife's "right arm appeared to be broken at the forearm and it was bleeding from where a portion of the bone appeared to be protruding from the skin." The husband, in turn, took several rocks to the head "but did not suffer serious injury."

The suspect then reportedly, "yelled at the [wife] telling her he would kill her the next time he saw her," and fled (without "his shit"). Police were unable to locate the suspect, the wife received arm-treatment from the Seattle Fire Department, and I sincerely hope the husband received a promotion—or a raise.
