Seattle University's new Fitness Center is designed by Olson Kundig Architects, the same firm that designed the Sullivan Hall School of Law.

Good Morning Charles,
I think the coolest buillding on the SU campus is St. Ignatius Chapel. One doesn't have to believe anything to find it a fascinating reflective building/space.

There are many, many, MANY things I will never understand about Seattle, but what passes for interesting architecture may just be top of the list.

Right now Seattle U is buying up land surrounding it's campus to continue to expand. If they get the height increases they are aiming for, they are planning on building large buildings on the edges of the campus that provide a sense of exclusion to their "neighbors."

I absolutely hate what they did to the library.

@4 What about it? I never saw it before the remodel so I have nothing to compare to the current state.

@4 I love the new library addition, especially on the inside. They kept certain elements like the spiral staircase and updated the rest. It feels like one new building instead of two different old and new parts.

Guess I'll have to check out the library again. What happened? It's been a long time since I have stepped foot in there.

I loved the covered walkway that was in front. The new addition clashes horribly with the old building. But, I will admit that it is lovely on the inside.

Olson Kundig must design many buildings here in Seattle. Everywhere I go I'm constantly noting that buildings look like Sullivan Hall.

BTW, they better have more racquetball courts in the new fitness center. The courts at the old fitness center have slowly been taken over by gigantic free-weights and spinning classes. BOO!

If IKEA sold buildings, this would be one of them.

Oh look, they painted a cardboard box.

@3 without the local universities and colleges, Seattle wouldn't have much of an economy and a lot of construction workers would be jobless.

Suck it up.

@12 Predictable attitude coming from a guy who works for a university.

It's inoffensive enough, I guess, but I don't get the current fascination with corrugated steel cladding. Was there an unfilled need for buildings that look like stacks of shipping containers?

Is it normal to hate the school you graduated from, and nearly everything it does?
