Theresa Allender and her husband Brian are fed up with the number of break-ins in their Rainier Beach/Beacon Ave. S. neighborhood. A couple years ago their home was ransacked and burglarized. About six months ago, someone tried to kick in their front door while Theresa and their baby were inside. On Friday, July 22nd, their house was burglarized again, only this time a home security camera caught the intruder as he cased their front door, before heading around and breaking in the back.

In fact, the Allenders are so fed up, they're offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man in the video above.

"I want a safer place to raise my children, and I know my neighbors do as well," says Allender. "Enough is enough."

Indeed, and it's not just Allender's neighborhood that's experiencing a rash of break-ins. In my Rainier Beach/Graham Hill neighborhood a couple dozen houses have been burglarized over the past month or so, including two houses on my corner, one of them twice. Perhaps it's my house's reputation for being home to a crazy-ferocious dog that's kept us safe, or perhaps it's only a matter of time before it's my turn, but either way it's awfully damn frustrating. I know the Seattle Police Department is celebrating a drop in crime and rise in public satisfaction, but it sure doesn't feel that way from our neck of the woods.
