Bobby Forch thinks so. Today, the (Stranger endorsed) man trying unseat Seattle City Councilwoman Jean Godden let reporters know that he's calling on the people of Seattle to attend a public forum next week on whether Washington State's new 10th Congressional District should be majority minority.

And, to hammer the point home, Rep. Eric Pettigrew (D-37) has just cut a robo-call informing voters that Godden doesn't support a majority minority district while Forch... wants everyone to go to a meeting.

"Current Councilmember Jean Godden is on record opposing this idea," Pettigrew's call says. "That’s why I’m working with Bobby Forch to turn out the community to this hearing. Seattle includes one of the most diverse zip codes in the nation, and it's critical that we have representation that reflects our community. Let’s join Bobby Forch and encourage more voter participation and diversity."

What Pettigrew's referring to, I believe, is the moment at The Stranger/Washington Bus's recent Candidate Survivor showdown when all the candidates were asked whether they support a majority minority district and all but two—Godden and Tom Rasmussen—walked to the side of the stage indicating "Yes."

Now, it's worth noting here that Forch is not really voicing full-throated support for such a district in today's statement. (Though, UPDATE, I'm now told by his people that he "definitely" supports such a thing.) He's just reminding people that he, and Pettigrew, want Seattleites to go to a meeting—a meeting Forch's opponent, Godden, probably won't be attending.

Will this help Forch in his race against Godden? Remains to be seen. Meeting details in the jump...
