Man Falls Through Ceiling at Marination Station

On the heels of such Capitol Hill Block Party-induced madness as Les Savy Fav's potted-plant-throwing mostly-naked frontman, a wandering wizard man, and TV On The Radio's evident disdain for encores* comes a report that Marination Station, the purveyor of delicious meat sandwiches on Capitol Hill, got a special surprise this weekend, according to neighborhood blog Capitol Hill Seattle:

Pauvrecitos!
  • Ouch!

According to Seattle Police, officers were called to the restaurant for a report that a highly inebriated male had locked himself in the bathroom, had removed a ceiling tile and was now crawling around in the Marination Station ceiling. After 20 minutes of the shenanigans as officers told the man to exit the ceiling through the same route he had entered, the man suddenly busted through the tiles and into the kitchen of the small restaurant, creating a reported five square-foot hole above.

Magellan The man—who wasn't seriously injured—was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of burglary and property damage. They were able to reopen Sunday for the final day of Block Party.

*Who DOES that?

This was copied and pasted word for word from the Capitol Hill Blog.

@3: it does state "according to neighborhood blog Capitol Hill Seattle" above, but maybe the quoting isn't clear?

I already went ahead and emailed the owner of CHS a link to this.

@4: The quoting isn't clear because nothing is quoted.

@3, either they've changed the whole article in 10 minutes or your definition of "word for word" is wrong.

I didn't realize that bands were obligated to commit to an encore, especially bands who have very recently lost a member who has been with them since the beginning.

don't be an ass

Megan linked from the get-go. No worries. The re-write with friendly link is now a time honored component of "news gathering." I like to return the favor Slog's way from time to time.

Megan also gets bonus points for making her own screen grab of the tweet and not just ripping off mine.

All around, a solid B+

@2, it wasn't copied and pasted word for word. That said, I went back and read the CHS post and our intern did paraphrase their work without adding additional reporting, so I've gone ahead and changed the post to a block quote of CHS's reporting.

Or as the Foo Fighters charmingly put it at Sasquatch, let's forget about the encore because you know we'd come back anyway and this way we can play more songs.

Yeah obligatory walk offs and the following encore almost all bands do is annoying. The most memorable "real" encore I have been a part of was Talib Kweli at Chop Suey many years ago. He did the standard encore and then half the crowd left. Those of us remaining continued to chant and cheer for about 10-15min. People started poking their heads out from backstage and eventually the DJ came back out and laid down some beats. A bit later TK came back out and very appreciativley thanked us but said they didn't have anymore songs. He freestyled abit and left us satisfied.

The Wedding Present famously never encored (for certain small values of "famous").

The important question here hasn't been asked yet: how on earth can Capitol Hill have a restaurant called "The Marination Station" and keep a straight face? It sounds like something you'd find in a 70s mall next to Farrell's.
