The day after all the touching images of gay couples finally being allowed to marry, ThinkProgress says, "State Sen. Rev. Rubén Díaz, the only Democrat who opposed marriage equality in New York, announced he will be suing to annul all of yesterday’s same-sex marriages that took place." He claims that New York City "broke the law by waiving the 24-hour waiting period traditionally required for obtaining marriage licenses." And then, like a villain in a 1980s cartoon, he announced the start of the war against gay marriage. Classy, classy.

Díaz is joined in his war by other villainous cronies, too:

Twenty four hours after New York's landmark same sex marriage law went into effect, the anti-gay-marriage group New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms today has filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn it.

The group, led by the Rev. Jason J. McGuire, claims that the state Senate, in adopting the legislation, violated the state’s Open Meetings Law by closing off the Senate galleries and lobby; and by holding closed door meetings with Mayor Bloomberg and others who backed the law.

Hey, I just noticed that two of the major generals in this "war" happen to have the honorific "Rev." in front of their names. But of course religion is all about love, right? It must totally be a coincidence or something.
