The tunnel's certainly big enough that you won't need lube to get where you want to come.

They didnt say "Invest in mass transit", they said "Invest in transit".

Were already spending 18 BILLION on mass transit, most of it is light rail, to spend 3 billion for a tunnel for cars, is somehow an outrage and wasteful spending. Thing is, the reason why theres not going to be a light rail or buses in the Viaduct Tunnel is that we already have bus tunnels for that specific purpose.

A perfect example of why the PR bullshit is bullshit. Electeds can defend their own decisions perfectly well - they don't need to be lending their name to some hamhanded bunch of knowitalls like this. So stupid if they knew this was how their names were going to be used. Regardless of hairsplitting definitions of "transit" this is dumb.

And your headline points out why this Let's Move Forward thing hurts even the anti-tunnel crowd, the Protect Seattle Immediately group - it dilutes elected leaders' accountability. See how Adam posts about it and how he puts a call in to the Ref 1 campaign? Electeds who decided for the tunnel mustn't let this whole PR bullshit insert itself as some sort of interference-runner. They don't need it. There is no political problem for them -- for an example look at the City Council, untroubled by any serious anti-tunnel flak from challengers -- so this group can only foment one with their bumbling.

Rein 'em in, electeds.

It's not a tunnel for cars.

It's a tunnel for limos.

In fact, the Deeply Tolled Tunnel has LESS car capacity than ALL the other options, at Twice The Price plus a $10 round trip toll.

Got cash?

Transit community? Is that referring to anyone who transits? Ho hum. Next thing you know, the transit community will want representation and marriage equality, but I digress. The tunnel, in its current iteration, is a shitty idea and the only people who like it don't live downtown. If it was a good idea for downtown, then the pro-tunnel minority wouldn't need to run name-dropping ads. I like the "Let's Move Forward" touch, implying that if you're not pro-tunnel, you're anti-transit. Clever...tricky.

@6 "In fact, the Deeply Tolled Tunnel has LESS car capacity than ALL the other options, at Twice The Price plus a $10 round trip toll."

Your just angry at the fact that you'll be dead by the time the tolls expire.

Facts are, anyone who deals with long term planning wont give two shits about you complaining about tolls. 20-30 years of tolls from a tunnel thats designed to last 100+ years. Its a small annoyance in the extremely long life of a road project.

@8: are you capable of being accurate about anything?

Wait. Yes that was a rhetorical question.

It's the Storm that visited the White House. The Reign have not existed since 19 frickin' 98.

Seems like a lot of people around here are now suddenly speaking for the "LGBT Community"...why just yesterday someone decided that everyone should vote for Jay Inslee before the debate was ever started.

I like to think that each individual person has a mind of their own that supersedes just being an "-ian" or "-ism". To me, that's true equality.

#3,

It's 18 billion over 12 years. Meanwhile in the next 4 or so years, were spending 4 billion on the tunnel, 5.8 on 520, 2 billion widening 405, 300 million on mercer, 400 million on spokane st, 2 billion extending hwy 167 to tacoma, 2 billion maintaining I-5... and more. Were spending far less money on transit than roads.
