Re: the passing of Clarence Clemons: The campy but love-drenched kisses given onstage by Clemons to Springsteen (and vice versa) were the first same-sex kisses I ever saw (in Creem magazine, in the early '80s, when I very much wanted to kiss Bruce Springsteen myself, and was amazed at Clemons' good fortune). I bet they were the first same-sex kisses—maybe even the first interracial kisses—most of their audiences had ever seen, too. Props galore. RIP, Clarence Clemons.
