On Second Thought, Tim Pawlenty Wishes He Had Backed Up His Initial Attack on Mitt Romney

Posted by on Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 1:04 PM

Tim Pawlenty just posted this on Twitter:

Screen_shot_2011-06-16_at_12.56.18_PM.png

Translation: "About a week ago, our focus groups told us to attack Mitt Romney. So we did. But just before the debate, another focus group told us that attacking Mitt Romney made us look petty. So we decided to act friendly toward Mitt Romney. But we just had another focus group that told us that going back on our attack of Mitt Romney makes us look wishy-washy, and that we should go back to attacking Mitt Romney. And so we are. Because we are leaders."

tim pawlenty's "health care reform" as governor of MN consisted of declining stimulus funds to expand medicaid, and entirely eliminating a health care program for the most vulnerable adults.

You know he's never gonna make it out of single digits.

He could be host to Reagan's recently thawed brain and he wouldn't get the Republican nomination with that face. Sorry, but looking the part has been the price of entry for a long time now.

But what focus group told him to shave every hair off of his body? That is the real question.

@3 - And not just because reanimating the brain of Reagan would force modern Republicans to reconcile Reagan with How They Remember Reagan.

As Dave Weigel put it, Pawlenty to Romney: "The jerk store called, and they're all out of you!"

@1: Thanks. I was wondering what his "reform" was, but suspected that it included inflicting a shitpile of misery on the disadvantaged. After all, he's a Republican in a well-to-do state. (I'm sure he regrets that he isn't a Republican in a poor state, so that he could have inflicted even more misery.)

Side thought: Do any of these nominally Christian politicians have a real belief in Christ? Because they all seem to be willing to blow off his teachings in exchange for evanescent riches here on earth (and after that, eternal damnation).
