Every Child Deserves a Mother and a Father

Posted by on Wed, Jun 15, 2011 at 11:04 AM

Police say a northeastern Pennsylvania man accused of killing his newborn daughter twice dropped a cinderblock on the girl because he said he and his girlfriend couldn't afford a second child.

Can't afford a second child, monster? Get a vasectomy. Get her tubes tied. Wear condoms. Use five different methods of birth control.

And if, after all that, you still manage to somehow give birth? Put it up for adoption.

You fucking irresponsible, stupid monster.

Well, you can't really blame the guy. He's been told all his life that birth control and abortion are a really bad thing.

Yup, Seattleblues, it's us liberals who condone infanticide. Even though we're the ones who actually try to promote the things that cut down on the situation that drives many people to infanticide, unwanted pregnancy. Promoting comprehensive sex education, easy access to condoms and other birth control methods along with abortion services means less actual murders.

Dan, please stop posting these. Point is taken, but it is too depressing.

KEEP POSTING THEM.

Dude can't afford a child, but can afford a whole cinderblock all to himself?

I bet all the "pro-life" people are out in droves screaming "baby killer!". Right? Right? Nah, somehow they'll wag their fingers at planned parenthood and the libruls, saying they somehow fostered a climate of dropping cinderblocks on babies.

See? Clearly this is a failure of Planned... No, I can't make a joke here. God, this is the worst.

IF THIS MAKES YOU SAD, GOOD. News like this isn't supposed to be feel-good. Does this couple think that children fall from the sky or some shit? If you can't afford children, there are a MYRIAD of affordable options available to you, ALL of them better than a post-term cinderblock.

Good thing we're doing away with all that sinful contraception and abortion. Beating a born child to death with a cinderblock is so much more Christian.

Just explaining: We've changed the time stamp on this post so it didn't conflict with our announcement that we're not posting during the meetings!

No, no, @16, they don't think that's more Christian. But they'd certainly think executing the dad for this is. Because two dead people are always better than one. They're "pro-life" that way, dontcha know.

@15, the people who commit infanticide aren't the ones reading Slog. Dumbass. It's perfectly acceptable to ask Dan not to post shit that makes us want to kill ourselves all the time. Does that make you feel bad? GOOD.

@ 25, I think Dan should keep posting these. That said, yeah, Dan DOES force us to read these. They're almost impossible to ignore, especially when the quote is as brief as it was here.

The other readers have a right to complain about that, and you have the same right to defend it. But you could stand to not be such an ass about it.

Because taking the child to a hospital would be too much trouble even though PA allows parents to surrender their baby at any hospital during the first 28 days following birth. No punishment or penalty.

#28 - don't blame us heterosexuals. Having babies is not part and parcel of the "heterosexual lifestyle". Many of us don't want the damn things, ever.

Posting horror stories to the choir isn't going to save any kids. I wish to god it would. There's so much to feel bad about in this world. But feeling like shit for what other people do to children doesn't help. As long as idiots get drunk, screw without protection, watch Fox News, listen to their evangelical pastors, and have kids they don't want, didn't plan for and can't afford, this shit will happen. My feeling bad about it helps nothing, although as I said, it makes me feel nearly suicidally terrible. And even if right-wing conservatives read this and it hurts them, and I'm sure it does, they don't equate it with their anti-birth control, anti-choice, anti-sex ed agenda. That's a tragedy, and that's what good people everywhere need to address.

Oh and by the way -- fuck you, suddenlyorcas.

Jesus fucking christ, Dan. I know every one of these are awful, but for the love of God, if you know it's gruesome, give a quick spoiler alert or something. I usually do a quick scan of your blog before I settle in for a read, and that came out of nowhere. And now that image just WON'T CLEAR FROM MY HEAD.

Why aren't you people just as outrage about abortion? It's just as cruel to take a defenseless life from the womb for selfish motives.
