Michael J. Maddux, a party man for the 43rd District Democrats, filed to run for School Board Director District Number 3 last Friday, but his candidacy was short-lived. Maddux initially declared to run for School Board to unseat the incumbent, Harium Martin-Morris, whom Maddux accused of being a "failure for children." But Maddux says today that he intends to withdraw from the race and endorse his former opponent, Michelle Buetow.

He didn't want to split the anti-incumbent vote. "I think Buetow will consider what's best for the kids instead of just what's best for the administration," says Maddux, citing Buteow's positions on textbooks and Teach for America as strong points.

This sudden turn of events makes me wonder if Maddux is exactly what David Blomstrom accuses all Seattle of being: a corporate whorehouse.
