Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker Removes A Painting of Children from His Mansion, Replaces It With Eagle

Posted by on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 2:43 PM

The only lesson I can take from this story is that the Republican governor is more afraid of homeless black children than the fiercest of predatory animals.

The twist is that he'll be responsible for creating the next generation of homeless black children in Wisconsin, and not a single eagle.

Bald eagles are primarily carrion eaters. They try to be predators, but it's hard.

This practice of swapping out artwork is so reminiscent of earlier political regimes.

Maybe he just doesn't like cheezy, nauseatingly earnest propaganda masquerading as "art".

How many of YOU white Seattle libtards, living in the 2nd whitest big city in the USA, have ultracheez "progressive" propaganda "art" with "carefully chosen" children of various races playing together?

NONE. YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES.

I'd probably do the same thing.

Well, sorta. I'd probably replace the picture of kids with a picture of a bunch of hot, naked women playing water polo.

Art is subjective.

Yeah, @4, like eagles and fluttering outsized flags and so on aren't cheesy, nauseatingly earnest propaganda. Are you Phyllis Schlafly?

4, dearest, I can assure you that Chez Vel-Duray has absolutely no "ultracheez progressive propaganda art with carefully chosen children of various races playing together". That sounds perfectly dreadful. And I'm as big a "libtard" as they come.

We do have two interpretations of "the Last Supper": One done on velvet (in the Rathskeller) and done in gravel art (in the Sala Grande), as well as a huge plaster crucifix, spray-painted gold (in the Hall of Rememberance). And a pair of Walter Keane children: A girl holding a kitty, and a boy holding a puppy.

I'd invite you over to prove it to you, but the whole place would overwhelm someone like you. It's kinder just to let you take my word for it.

Really, Jen? Is "afraid of homeless black children" the only explanation you can find for someone not wanting to see that painting every day? What is he thinks it's "retarded," like this one: http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archive… ?
I am not a fan of Walker, but this is the kind of thoughtless, non-issue criticism that gives ammo to people like #4.

Because people adorn their walls with what scares them least, not what they feel defines them most.

Stuck on stupid.

It is just as cheesy as painting by Thomas Kinkade (Painter of Shite).

Walker is a dick but I sure wouldn't want that lame ass "painting" anywhere in my house.

We all know that governor's are better equipped to discern what's good art. Especially teabagger governors such as Scott Walker of Wisconsin and Paul LePage in Maine.

Homeless? Those kids don't look homeless. They're nicely dressed (I dig the white kid's jacket), clean, and healthy-looking. And check out those gorgeous houses on their street. They're nicer than mine.

You know, just because they're of mixed race doesn't mean they're homeless, Jen.

I wish I could find a link to the painting of the eagle, though.

I used to think Republicans were indifferent to the poor, but lately its become obvious that they really fucking hate them.

Are you serious? I guess you only saw one race, when, arguably, two are represented. However, using hippie liberal douche logic, this painting IS racist. It symbolizes the invisibility of the asian american, and is inherently racist by the implication of the intentional exclusion. Walker's a shitbag, but you're just special. This painting is awful, and no one in their right mind would want to stare at its offensiveness. So instead of encouraging child abuse (this painting most assuredly does), something else may be more appropriate.

One of the kids is white, so by your dipshit libtard white-guilt "logic", he must hate white kids too. Holy shit you are an embarrassment in the face of reason itself.
