Slog Poll: Who Said It?

Posted by on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 11:19 AM

This morning, someone said this: "I don't think David Goldstein qualifies as a journalist. He's a hack. He's a partisan hack. He's just there to parrot points from the other side."

We'll publish the answer later today.

All I can write is that Goldy is probably going to win a Pulitzer and/or a Peabody one of these days.. He has some of the best political stories in the Northwest. His piece on education cuts is pretty damn good.

Goldy is awesome. He researches his facts, and doesn't just bitch about what's wrong, but offers up solutions.

The only David Goldstein I know is that really excellent local stage actor. I think he's in that Children's theater piece, or maybe it closed already. Everything he does on stage is fuckin' golden. Maybe, hence the name?

Who is the other (fake) David Goldstein?

Goldy's no hack, but if calling someone a hack means you're scared of them, does that mean you're scared of all those you named "stupid fucking credulous hack of the day"?

Goldy is one of the few real political journalists left in Washington.

I think both Joni and Rob are afraid of Goldy.

I don't listen to Steve Scher's show on Fridays (well, not on any other day of the week either), but if Joni didn't say it to Eli this morning I'm absolutely certain she thought it.

4 of them are definitely scared, but it seemed to direct for McKenna and too articulate for Eyman, so I went with Balter.

Isn't this the masthead of Horse's Ass?

I don't know that I would describe Goldy as a hack but he is certainly a partisan and his writing lacks the maturity to EVER win a Pulitzer or Peabody. It's too bad that former editor from the PI didn't take the job with The Stranger awhile back; one wonders if she could have elevated the level of writing and discourse in the pages of The Stranger from the playground to high school or maybe community college.

t 17: The Stranger presents the same information that you might see in another paper but does so in a way that isn't boring. It doesn't need to be elevated, you just need to fuck off.

@ 18 What's boring is your tepid opinion that news can only be interesting when presented in an immature and sarcastic mannger. Do you work for The Stranger?
