Tom Skerritt Is A Lovely Human Being...

Posted by on Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 11:10 AM

...and I can't believe he put up with so many yahoos, for so long, at Slog Happy Hour last night. Photo bombing dork-a-rama.

I like how, in the fifth picture, you can clearly see *someone* stealing the meat off of Tom Skerritt's meat plate.

We used to park in Madison park and smoke a bowl at this really nice spot, then walk the dogs. Once, I looked up and my pot-smoker alarm said "COP" there was this old guy taking out the trash. While my first instinct was cop, the second was "tom skeritt!" who is a fixture in the area (too many times at Earnst, university village, to count)

After that we found a nice spot that wasn't in front of Sheriff Toms house.

Is Rainier beer becoming hip? I never saw anyone drink it when I lived there.

its hip for young urban 'creative class' that the slog caters too. What is with all theses unpleasant looking women though.

Tom looks a bit confused by the whole thing.

So glad to see everyone who showed up last night.
Oh, and after I practically ran to my SIFF shift and driving to the director's hotel, I find out he was given an electric car for the screenings and I didn't need to drive anyone anywhere.
Missed out on Skerritt and my movie for the evening. Hmph.

Conclusion: the size of Skerrit's smile increases with the proximity of hot young ladies, and decreases with the proximity of dudes.

So, these are the folks that turn out to the Stranger's political crap? Wow.

@11: Yep, we're great! And not an overwrought ineffective and unlikeable redhead in sight, so it was a double-bonus.

Right back at you care bear! I had a great time, but was too shy to talk to Mr. Skerritt.

@17 I definitely had enough Top Guns to talk to him, just couldn't think of anything to say. Probably a good thing since I would've been speaking several decibels too loudly (again, plenty of Top Guns).

Cheers to the return of the Official Slog Happy! So what's the deal Stranger staffers, we back to monthly, switching to whenev you can snag a celeb? Curious sloggers want to know!

COMTE 19
I'd never watched "Top Gun" before (seriously, I kept waiting for Lou Gossett, Jr. to show up), but I sure had to laugh at the idea of a few piddly F-5E's going head-to-head against a squadron of F-14 Tomcats: like pitting a VW Beetle against a top-fuel funny car.

It's so funny to me that people think of him and Top Gun. For me, he's Picket Fences forever.
