Keep Talking, Herman

Posted by on Wed, Jun 8, 2011 at 2:50 PM

Even super-Republican site Infidel Bloggers Alliance is thinking about abandoning Herman Cain after yesterday's interview with Wolf Blitzer. He says he's for "traditional marriage," but he thinks it's a state's right issue. And so, apparently, are guns:

  • Danny Schwartz
BLITZER: How about gun control?

CAIN: I support the 2nd amendment.

B: So what’s the answer on gun control?

C: The answer is I support, strongly support, the 2nd amendment. I don’t support onerous legislation that’s going to restrict people’s rights in order to be able to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment.

B: Should states or local government be allowed to control guns, the gun situation, or should…

C: Yes

B: Yes?

C: Yes.

B: So the answer is yes?

C: The answer is yes, that should be a state’s decision.

That sound you hear is ten thousand teabaggers tearing out what's left of their hair at a presidential candidate who thinks Constitutional rights are a state's rights issue. It's official: Herman Cain is this week's Newt Gingrich. The poor guy can't catch a break. Why do the gotcha media persist in asking him questions?

Watching these Republicans campaign is nearly as entertaining as watching Monty Python's "Upper Class Twit of the Year" contest. One can only hope that both contests end the same way.

On the other hand, there are enough Lower Class Twits to vote them into office.

This is fatal. Bye-bye, Herman.

Let me see if I have this straight. In the course of just two weeks:

- Newt Gingrich said that Ryan's budget was irresponsible and went on a two week vacation.

- Mitt Romney said that global climate change is real and that human's are at least somewhat responsible.

- Herman Cain supports gun control.

That's quite a lineup you have there, Republicans.

The 2012 Republican nominee is going to be some poor guy who's been in a coma since 1989.

It's also funny because Herman Cain doesn't understand how the constitution works. If it's unconstitional, it's not a state issue. A state can't choose to ignore a constitutional prohibition just because it wants to. Cain not only has no idea how government works (as we've seen with his brain-dead "three page law" comment), he doesn't understand how HIS OWN ARGUMENTS work.

Chess players have are much more successful at remembering layouts of pieces on a board when they are placed through a logical progression using the rules of the game from the common start point. When the pieces are arranged randomly, players are much less likely to be able to memorize the placement of pieces on the board.

The Republican platform follows no logical progression. It's a nearly random conglomeration born of pandering to ignoramuses and secret pacts to funnel all wealth to the billionaire class. It's not surprising so many of their candidates can't keep straight in their heads.
