Behold, a slice of chocolate mocha pie from Caffe Zingaro* on Lower Queen Anne (or Uptown, or whatever you want to call the non-neighborhood). The pie has a crumbly, salty, cookie-like crust with little chocolate chunks and walnuts sprinkled throughout. The middle is a thick layer of sweet and delicately-flavored mocha mousse, and it's topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. HOLY SHIT IT IS DELICIOUS. It also makes me thirsty, the way really rich, homemade ice cream makes me thirsty, so get yourself a glass of water when you order it.

The pie is made by Dessert Works and after tax it works out to be a little over $5 a slice. I know some of you weirdos will flip out and be all "$5 for a piece of pie? I can make a whole pie for half that much!" But let me tell you right now that you cannot. You can try, but it will not be this good.

*Caffe Zingaro is not my first choice for coffeeshops on LQA, but it is a perfectly fine location should you be looking for a place with limitless wi-fi and good lattes. I do have one complaint, though, and it is this: They need to stop playing The Bends. Three out of the last five times I've been in, they've been playing The Bends. Enough!
