I stopped giving a shit about safety locks and proper gun storage about a decade ago. If you gun owners don't care enough about your own children to safely store your firearms—or to remove them your homes entirely (the guns, not the kids)—then why should I give a shit? And, hey, if you don't care enough about your kids to properly store your guns and one of your kids finds one of your guns and accidentally blows his own head off, or blow's his little brother's head off, I'm going to resist my handwringing liberal tendencies and try not to give a shit. But, you know...

If you're so freaking sensitive that being asked by a doctor whether there are guns in your home hurts your feewings so bad that you gotta go crying to the state legislature, I can't help but wonder how you're going to hold up at your kid's funeral.

But I'll try not to give a shit.

UPDATE: There are a lot of gun nuts screaming in the comments about how I wanna ban guns, make it illegal for anyone but criminalz to own guns, melt all the guns and give a new world to our daughters and sons, etc. But all I mentioned in this post was proper gun storage and safety locks. Nothing about taking people's guns away. So.. do people own guns because they're paranoids or does owning a gun make you paranoid? Because I'm curious how Slog's resident gun nuts got from, "Safe, responsible gun ownership, particularly important when kids are present," to, "Thar a'comin' fer mah guns, maw!"

And what she said:

I once took my son to a doctor who spent less time examining my son than lecturing me about how my son didn't need to be breastfed at his age. I didn't go back to that doctor. I also didn't go to the damned legislature to make it illegal for doctors to tell mothers to stop breastfeeding their two year olds.

Gun nuts are such pussies.

Guns nuts are pussies—probably because they were breast fed too long.
