The Predators Lost Last Night. Sigh.

Posted by on Fri, May 6, 2011 at 4:13 PM

Now the Canucks are up 3-1 in the series. I am not happy about this.

The only thing that could cheer me up is a) the Predators winning the next three games (if the Blackhawks can do it, so can they!) and b) the Red Wings losing tonight's game against the Sharks and being out of the playoffs.

In other hockey-related news: Shea Weber's playoff beard has a Twitter account.

Sorry Megan, not going to happen. Your Preds put up a good fight, but I think the Canucks have finally remembered how to play hockey for keeps again.

I mean, Henrik even managed to score last night! Maybe next game he'll be able to do that with a goalie in net.

Canucks for the body-checking win.

What happened to Rinne anyway? Did someone offer him some lutefisk?

Just for laughs, has anyone actually typed in "odds to win 2011 Stanley Cup" in a search engine?

Dear The Stranger Online, I am sure you created Lineout as a way to de-clutter Slog and have an independent branch of The Strange Online that could focus on music in the appropriate quantity without holding back any content, may I suggest doing the same with the sports coverage? Sports fans would love it, guys like me who can't stand sports would love it, win win win. Go Team, make it happen!

@ 1, the Canucks won't survive the next round. I think SJ is just about ready to finally win the West, if not the Cup. (Although they ARE just the team to let Detroit win four in a row... but I don't see it happening this year.)

@ 4, do you know how to scroll past things that don't interest you? It sounds like you need to brush up on that skill, amongst many others.

@6 people who read SLOG mobile may be using cell phones, not all of which have good scroll feature sets.

But I think @4 doesn't realize there is now a Sports Page in the print edition (or at least there was).

I've been wearing an official Canucks long sleeve T-shirt for years now. I bought it when I started going to Thunderbirds games and thought that hockey would be the sport that carried me over the Football to Baseball lull after the Sonics left. I imagined taking the Cascades to the GM Center (now renamed something stupid) and seeing a pro hockey game yet I never did. Canucks seemed like yet another doomed Seattle team, one-country removed.

Now they're doing it. My t-shirt is cool. Well, not as cool as when no one knew what the Canucks were.

Whenever you are given the chance to root for a hockey team of a city you don't live in, ALWAYS root for the Canadians. It's their fucking sport.

Excuse me, SRotU, the Sonics did not "leave".

They were stolen from us. If somebody breaks into your house and steals your tv, do you say that "it left"? No you do not.

They were stolen from us, and Howard MF Schultz gave the robbers the keys to our front door. COMPLICIT.

Also, fuck LeBron. With a cactus. Srsly.

Detroit just managed to avoid a sweep, and also assure that Lidstrom (who scored two goals) won't have played his last series before his home crowd without a last victory. If SJ wins the next game and he retires, at least he gave the faithful a good sendoff.

Megan, the Predators have similar issues to the Rangers in that they've got a rock star goaltender, but lack finishers. SJ will test Luongo next round.

Matt @5, SJ are just the kind of head cases to give the Wings a couple of games before their newfound poise and character kicks in and closes the deal.

@ 5, 14 - they beat the Wings in 5 last year.
