Stupid, Stupid Dog: Playing Fetch... with a Statue.

Posted by on Fri, May 6, 2011 at 10:04 AM

I don't even know why I'm writing this blog post. DOGS ARE FUCKING STUPID—this truth we hold to be self-evident. They are easily fooled by the fake throw, they freak out when an ambulance passes by, and they eat garbage as well as their own poop. In other words, you don't need any further convincing that dogs are just about as stupid as a jar full of gravel. HOWEVER! For those who do? There's this.

Stupid fucking dog.

For some silly reason the band name "Throw Me The Statue" comes to mind....

Babies, I'll grant you, are fantastically stupid. So dumb they should be grateful of our mockery. You're welcome, babies!

But dogs? What are you, Mr. Humphrey, some sort of psychopath?

I dunno, it always kind of amazes me that dogs know what something inanimate is SUPPOSED to be. I remember my dog freaking out at a stone statue of a lion. How did she know what this artistic representation was? And how representational does it need to be for them to get it?

I always feel the same way, leek. Something smells like stone and looks like a person, so the dog tries to respond? That's kinda brilliant.

How would your dog know what I lion is, anyhow? Have you taken your dog to either Africa or the zoo?

What 4,5 and 6 said...this actually makes the case that dogs are rather smart. A cat would just vomit a hairball on it.

When I bring my Italian Greyhound (mini Greyhound) to U Village she always runs up to the Greyhound statue outside of Salon Ciba. It is adorable that she seems to have breed recognition even when the other dog is a statue.

@5,

A lion is a gigantic cat, so maybe the dog was torn between its instinct to chase it and a reaction of "holy shit, that thing's big enough to eat me!"

Humans make and watch videos of dogs being stupid. That is kind of dumb.
