Tomorrow we'll publish the results of Brendan Kiley's extensive investigation into the speakeasy sting carried out by SPD and the FBI from 2007 to 2009. Kiley began doing interviews for it two years ago and spent the last three months digging deeper and getting all the obtainable facts in a row. The result: a 9,000-word essay that will change your understanding of what went down. Contrary to how it's been played in the media—including in The Stranger—the investigation was a flop. The crimes SPD and FBI thought they were pursuing at those after-hours parties never materialized, and the drug crimes that law enforcement ended up using to justify the whole thing just sorta fell into their lap.

Stay tuned.
