Donald Trump on Oil: "You're not gonna raise that FUCKIN' price!"

Posted by on Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 9:41 AM

For those of you wondering what Donald Trump's appeal is outside the crazy Birther/Neo-Birther camp, you need look no further than last night's speech before a well-lubricated crowd at the Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas, where the Donald dropped multiple F-bombs while accusing our nation's politicians of being "stupid" and "blood-sucking."

Some might call Trump's remarks rude, simplistic or foul-mouthed. But to a lot of Americans—you know, rude, simplistic, foul-mouthed Americans—this is exactly the sort of leadership they crave. I don't think he's running, but if he does, don't discount him. Trump's got more than enough appeal to totally fuck up an already fucked up GOP field.

cf. Howard Dean, 2004. How far we've come.

Why does The Donald HATE Capitalistic free-enterprise?

Sorry, under what United States or international legal authority is he pretending that we have any control over this, short of militarily seizing oil fields in OPEC nations?

I'm not likely to vote for the Donald, but I think he has a point about gas prices being high because the Saudis aren't sufficiently dependent on/frightened of the US. From 1991 to 2003 gas prices were quite reasonable because the Saudis needed the US military to protect them from Saddam Hussein. Then, no more Bully of Baghdad and we get $3-$5 a gallon gasoline.

This is gonna be an AWESOME primary. I'm going to find a local bar that will show the Repub debates and turn it into a drinking game - Ayn Rand references, lies about high-income effectivetax rates, and referring to any current US politician/policy besides Bernie Sanders as socialist are one sip (don't want to get wasted too early) and unprompted mentions of DOMA or DADT comments are finishers!

Awesome. I'm wondering just how he plans to dictate to the Saudis what he thinks oil prices should be.

Wait. I thought republicans were all about the free market and stuff.

Now I'm confused.

@5: A barrel of oil is cheaper than it was three years ago, but gas is more expensive. The two have very little to do with one another. Exxon/Mobil and Chevron are doing just fine, by the way...

@1, yes he did. He said he'd institute a 25% import tax on the fucking Chinese. Bonus points for irony, since his own clothing line is produced in China.

Nice to see the GOP field has fully embraced the idea of gov'mint setting the prices companies can charge for it's products!

Arbeit macht... you're FIRED!!

@4 I really don't think he has any issue with going in there and doing just that if he was in charge.

For starters, I'd be interested to know if Trump could locate "Sody Arabia" on a fucking world map...

We get most of our imported oil from Canada and Mexico. Is Trump gonna fuck with them, too?

I hate this man. Like genuinely hate him. He's a hideous, racist, exploitative, manipulative asshole. I really just want him to go the fuck away.

If someone has the idea that Obama released the birth certificate to make Trump look good because Trump could be a weak and comical Republican nominee. think of the old expression "Be careful what you wish for."

I think that Trump is tapping into a vein of anxiety and fear which is making him a very effective candidate. Don't laugh too soon.

I love me an f-bomb, but what a fucktard. Just shows how fundamentally he does NOT understand how the world works.

@15 Yeah, I also think that a moronic, foul-mouthed, uncompromising asshole looks better than an intelligent, articulate, sell-out milquetoast to many people. Something about appearing to have a spine that draws the crowds in, regardless of the supposed capacity to govern.
