Legally speaking, Governor Chris Gregoire is full of shit. Well, those are my crude words.

Want a smart, articulate legal take down? ACLU of Washington drug policy director Alison Holcomb writes a punishing five page take-down of Gregoire's right-wing politics and mushy legal weaseling. Meanwhile, ACLU executive director Kathleen Taylor writes a letter asking the governor not to veto a medical-marijuana bill on her desk. All this comes after a legal analysis issued earlier today by UW's Hugh Spitzer and comments from state Rep Roger Goodman (D-45), who both believe that Gregoire's veto excuse is unjustified.

Gregoire may be able to veto parts of this bill—using a specious legal argument, at the expense of the sick and dying, contrary to the will of the legislature and voters—but lawyers and lawmakers aren't going to make it easy on her.
