Are All Americans This Stupid, or Just Beer Drinkers?

sixpack.jpg

I was given a six-pack of organic ale as a birthday present, and having never bought that brand before, was about to flip it over to see what was printed on the bottom (I mean, who doesn't?), when fortunately, the following printed warning message caught my eye:

CAUTION: Please remove bottles before reading bottom panel.

Whew! Disaster averted. Thanks beer company lawyers!

Nope, you can thank your allies the trial lawyers for this and most other warnings.

Whew, disaster narrowly averted! In Kenya, on one brand of breakfast cereal, there was this big label:
"Warning! Only the contents of this box are edible."

Well you see if a conservative dropped the beer bottles on his foot, he'd call himself an idiot. If a liberal did it, he'd blame the corporation who made the product, hire a trial lawyer like Jihn Edwards and sue.

It's why trial lawyers give so much money to the left, they don't believe in personal responsibility. Beer bottle hurts you? Blame a corporation.

"Brewed in the Republic of Cascadia."

There are jokes on that box, "When visiting the Republic of Cascadia, visit our Consulate and Cultural Center..." I think that warning is a joke, to get you to read the bottom panel.

If you're serious, then as @4 points out, it's a joke. If you knew that, then this is gratuitous Fish Tale promotion, huzzah! I do think their regular organic IPA is better than the Salmon Pale Ale, but that's just me, and I've never had either from a bottle. One of the nicest things about living in Olympia is walking down to the Fish to get a growler of fresh beer pulled.

@5, naw, that would spoil the fun of laughing at him rather than with him!

Was the beer any good...oh, I see, I'm sorry...does your foot hurt?

Wow, I was going to write a post about how it's so easy to sue these days that companies have to plaster warning labels all over their product just to stay in business and then people like you have the nerve to judge them for it. It's a good thing I learned it was a joke before I went and did that.

More importantly, fishtale is the bomb.

#4 is right. Isn't it obvious anything called "organic wild salmon pale ale" is a joke?

Ha ha, Goldy.

My nephew works for Stone Brewing Co. If you're a beer lover, try it out sometime. You won't be disappointed and they have quite a variety.

It's crappy beer and the owners are assholes. The worst part of living in Olympia is people trying to act like the FishTale is a good brewpub.

Funnier if it was printed on the bottom of the box.

My husband bought a weight vest--it makes him heavier so when he'd roller-ski around Green Lake, he'd get in ever better shape. The weight vest's warning lable said: "This is not a flotation device." Duh.

"The Myth of Organic," on Cornichon, four years ago, begins thus: "Just as politicians hate voters, Corporate America hates its customers." http://www.cornichon.org/2007/06/the-myt…. That said, Dilbert is funnier.

I wish @1 and @3 would get the joke, after all there's no way a lawyer was paid for such a warning. We're talking about a company with like 20 employees.
