As mentioned yesterday, this weekend brings Vegfest—the nation's largest vegetarian festival, featuring lectures, cooking exhibitions, and over 500 meat-free foods for sampling—to the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

Find full info on Vegfest 2011 and many other food-related doings in the Chow Events Calendar.

Cheeseburgers are too adorable to eat, which is why you hafta put a bun over their eyes before biting down.

I went to this a few years ago and it would have been better titled "Fake Meat Fest." Anybody know if it's improved since?

Sloppy Joes are more veg than rennet-soaked cheeseburgers, and they look like what zombies eat too.

VegFest - it's what to do if you're out of bacon!

@2: What are you talking about?

Things like Mighty-O donuts, chips, various beverages, etc. aren't really "fake meat" items.

@4 - Fake meat, donuts and chips: hallmarks of the healthy vegetarian diet. You're right, though, they did offer a number of vegetarian beverages in a market dominated by Clamato.

I'm not just posting to express my disappointment or be dickish. I'm actually curious whether attendees in more recent years have found it better than the one I attended.

I know this is wrong, and I must be a horible person, but everytime I see the adverts for this my brain reads it as "vagfest" for just a second.

6: Don't feel too bad. Every time I see the word, I think of the hubbub outside of the hospital housing Terry Schiavo.

@6 - I came in here to make the same comment.

For one slight moment, I want to attend this festival even less.
