In the latest country mouse in the city news, West Seattle Blog reports two recent coyote sightings in Delridge. But not to worry, they report: "We’ve been publishing coyote sightings...for about four years, by the way, and haven’t had any West Seattle reports of human-coyote problems." Turns out they just eat pets every once in a while, so NBD.

But while West Seattle shrugs off its coyote problem, Capitol Hill Blog reports an influx of great blue herons (noted sexual predators) in Volunteer Park. Luckily, the Parks Department has installed a decoy heron to scare away those glorified pterodactyls. They're antisocial. Bullet dodged.

Finally, everyone knows that the quickest way to altruism is through conspicuous consumption, and this has not been lost on local businesses, where you can now buy stuff and give a little money to benefit disaster relief in Japan—like buttons for Japan in Ballard and tasty Japanese-infused pastries (snacking just got purposeful!) on Phinney Ridge. Not to be outdone, blocks of shops in West Seattle are donating their proceeds to Japan this Sunday.
