"We Are Going to Block Streets"

Posted by on Mon, Mar 7, 2011 at 11:15 AM

I just got this voice mail:

Hi. Here’s a message for your political people. On April 1, 2011, April Fool’s Day, there is going to be a massive don’t-show-up-for-work day. Nobody is going to work. And we are going to block the streets. We are going to take our cars, we are going to block streets—nothing is going to happen. We are going to block trains; we are going to block everything. Nothing is going to happen. We are going to shut this country down until it realizes that we are the people, you know. Hey, yeah, the people. Yeah. Get ready. April 1. April Fool’s. Day. Ha Ha! My name is Calamity. Calamity. You can call me if you want. [Doesn’t leave phone number.]

Just thought you all would want to know.

What if we could all make this happen?

May Day would be more appropriate I think.

I have a stack of blocks and I'm ready to take the streets back for toddlers!

We have nothing to lose but our alphabet!

Something's going to happen, all right. This fuckstick is going to get his car towed, and maybe his silly head beat in.

How about we all join together to support something meaningful, like supporting the folks in Wisconson, or Libya?

First thing I thought of was this: http://alaskawtf.com/2011/02/28/palins-i…

But that's a different day.

"We are going to shut this country down until it realizes that we are the people, you know."

No demands, just recognition that "we are the people".

Can we ask for something more meaningful? Life putting the bankers in jail? Or actually taxing corporations and saving the economy? Or maybe Instant Runoff Voting? Or for five-or-more political parties? Or re-funding our schools (perhaps with those corporate taxes)?

Reminds me of those self-titled "anarchists" who are for "conflictional" things and want to (apparently) just break shit and fight the cops.

*sigh* We are doomed.

What's funny is that they would be targeting "the people," and even people who might not necessarily have enough income to own a car like these folks. When people like this make decisions they are never actually based on thought. It's a bit annoying.

Note to self: stay away from desk calendar while tripping balls.

@12 I'd say thats nothing compared to the lack of thought that went into his plan to use cars to block trains.

Massive don’t-show-up-for-work? Too much work.

How about "the people" wear nose-glasses instead, so we can realize who they are?

@3, then we, too, would be high as balls and rambling semicoherently.

We need a poll on posts such as these, to determine (in a scientifically binding way) what drug or drugs the caller has imbibed prior to using the phone.
I'm going for a touch of stupid and a bunch of insanity piled on top of more stupid, and shaken.

That's April 1, kids. Not to be confused with March 13, when the Teabaggers are all going to block traffic. Or Critical Mass on the 25th. Not that the cause matters; douchebags block traffic because that's the douchebag way.

@11 I read this as confectional. I was thinking: I'll block traffic to get a fucking paczki.

@18 And why are the baggers from East of the Cascades dragging ass over here to mildly inconvenience about 100 of us?

Sounds like a bad day for a medical emergency. But then, healthcare is just for those sick moochers leeching off the healthy.
