From Cheese-Heads to Koch-Heads

Posted by on Fri, Feb 25, 2011 at 10:52 AM

Go ahead. Laugh at those Wisconsin rubes, and how they're letting themselves get played by a couple of New York billionaires. I mean, it could never happen here, right?

Think again, country bumpkins.

As was reported last fall on HA (and very little anywhere else), the Koch brothers, through their Tea Party associated front group, Americans for Prosperity, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars helping Republican Jaime Herrera win election in Washington's 3rd Congressional District this past November... even after shutting down a mill and outsourcing over 300 jobs in her home town of Camas!

And my friend Kirby Wilbur—the newly elected chair of the Washington State Republican Party—he ran the Washington chapter of Americans for Prosperity this past election year, overseeing questionable (and quite possibly illegal) campaign finance and reporting activities on behalf of the Kochs.

So if you think what's going on in Wisconsin under Koch-toady Gov. Scott Walker, couldn't happen here under say, Governor Rob McKenna... well... you might want to look for my feature in next week's edition of The Stranger.

You know what's funny? The Koch family fortune comes from their assisting Stalin (yeah THAT Stalin) in building up the Soviet energy infrastructure.

Kinda like the Bush's helping Hitler in the 1930's.

Aren't conservatives so fucking patriotic?!?!?!?

In 1967, after Fred Koch died, of a heart attack, Charles renamed the business Koch Industries, in honor of his father. Fred Koch’s will made his sons extraordinarily wealthy. David Koch joked about his good fortune in a 2003 speech to alumni at Deerfield, where, after pledging twenty-five million dollars, he was made the school’s sole “lifetime trustee.” He said, “You might ask: How does David Koch happen to have the wealth to be so generous? Well, let me tell you a story. It all started when I was a little boy. One day, my father gave me an apple. I soon sold it for five dollars and bought two apples and sold them for ten. Then I bought four apples and sold them for twenty. Well, this went on day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, until my father died and left me three hundred million dollars!”

Dood, if you are serious about that obesity, draft-dodging scumbag and fleshy turd, Kirby Wilbur being your friend, you'd better never run into me in any dark alleyways. (So you'd best be kidding about that!)

But this has been happening in WA for quite some time, with those jobs-offshoring mavens, Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray (and wasn't supposedly "liberal" -- perhaps neoliberal is more like it, McDermott the head of the congressional India Lobby, helping to get an infinite number of H1-Bs into America to replace American workers???) and friends selling out the local workers.

Isn't the present secretary of commerce, Gary Locke (that guy signing all those waivers to avoid that weakened and paltry "buy American" clause and allow evermore jobs being offshored), the former Gov. Gary Locke who offshored state jobs in 49 out of 51 state agencies????

Nope, The Wa Wa State is far ahead of Wisconsin; at least they had an authentic democrat for a few years (Russ Feingold) until those Kochheads voted him out.

You can't save people who spitefully refuse to save themselves. If the majority of our nation's sadistic, aggressively ignorant, hate-crazed population choose to elect Republicans to nuke the middle class, then there's really not a whole lot that the relative handful of sane, decent people can do about it. THAT'S DUHMOCKRASEE!

I hope I don't ever have to see the words 'governor' and 'Rob McKenna' together ever again. They leave a foul taste in my mouth.
