Parting Thoughts

Posted by on Sun, Feb 6, 2011 at 7:53 PM

Final score: Packers 31, Steelers 25.

Bethany Jean Clement: "There isn't enough beer in the world to make football interesting."

Brendan Kiley's dad: "What does it mean that I've been watching since before there was a Super Bowl I?"

Brendan Kiley: [Asleep in the fireplace and not responding.]

Grant Brissey: "I'm drunk."

not enough butt slapping for me, either.

It seemed to be an exceptionally boring game. And I only had one beer, which certainly didn't help matters any. Plus the commercials sucked.

Fun company though, which is really the whole point, especially when you don't give a rip about either team (and hating the Steelers doesn't count as caring, it's such a universal feeling [unless you're from Pittsburg]).

The players wear too much clothing.

Football always makes me sleepy. It's like an instant nap for me.

Do you really have to push the sterotype that liberals hate sports?

It was the Daffodil Bowl, that’s what it was. Yes, with both teams wearing yellow pants and that green AstroTurf.

There was almost no bum slapping, scary. Slog needs to start sponsoring a rugby team.

Did you see Grant's adorable drunk post above?

@7 We'll just shut up forever so people that like sports won't hate us. We could also all start voting Republican and beating up gay people just so they won't get mad at us anymore.

I personally like to cultivate the contempt of people who like sports. Because they are most likely wearing pleated pants, and wearing their Blackberry on their belt.

@10

Woah where did that come from plenty of Dems like sports, its not a republican thing.

And what do gay people have to do with it?

I'm just saying the Stranger could recognize that there are plenty of Dems and liberals who like sports.

@ 11 So one could say people who read the stranger are pot smokers who are gay? One shouldn't generalize.

Bethany Jean Clement: "There isn't enough beer in the world to make football interesting."

-I adore you BJ C.

Brendan Kiley's dad: "What does it mean that I've been watching since before there was a Super Bowl I?"

-It means you are a bit dim. Bethany will explain it to you.

Brendan Kiley: [Asleep in the fireplace and not responding.]

-A fine achievement for someone your age. Well done.

Grant Brissey: "I'm drunk."

@15 Sasquatch post....."Go look Line Out"
Probably he is drunk on FourLoko and donuts, but as to trousers, I wouldn't know, as I am relegated to the frozen tundra of the north, and have never met any of these darlings in person...sniff.

@13 Actually, I like to make at least 5 generalizations a day, thank you very much. And be honest: Have you ever met a liberal who wore pleated Dockers? ...didn't think so.

I translated it as "I don't get it so it must suck".

Some people don't get the intricacies of running a play action to pull in the linebacker to give a split second window on a crossing pattern.

Just because I don't get certain types of music doesn't mean I think the genre as a whole is uninteresting. It's just something I don't get.
