What the World Needs Now Is a Pac-Man Reality TV Show

Posted by on Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 11:55 AM

Deadline Hollywood breaks the news of a new show that will surely be like the American Idol of running away from other people:

Waka waka waka! Pac-Man, is headed to reality TV. Merv Griffin Entertainment has teamed with leading game maker Namco Bandai Games America, which owns the Pac-Man brand, to develop an unscripted series based on the hugely popular video game...The Pac-Man reality series is envisioned as a "big, crazy Wipeout-type event with a lot of energy," said Merv Griffin's president of TV Roy Bank. "The idea we have is to take what Pac-Man is and bring it to life, to bring what is essentially the world's biggest game of tag to television."

Yes. Because tag is what we want to watch on television. Next, you should do Celebrity Hide-and-Seek. If you need a video game brand to sell this, maybe you should use Combat.

this sounds like some Japanese TV Game Show but without the extremely hilarious Japanese pranks that makes Japanese Game shows so popular.

What y'all are missing is that this combines competitive eating with tag. How many hot dogs can you scarf down while running away from ghosts? If you manage to eat the whole personal watermelon, you can tag ghosts for the next minute! After clearing the first board, the hotdogs are replaced with deep-fried haggis nuggets!

America, rebel against the vapid, the vacuous trash that is cable.

1). Sounds like a "Game show" and not a "Reality Show".

2). It already exists: http://www.pacmanhattan.com/ and has for a few years, now.
