Canuck, there is more "snow" available right now within a two-block radius of that view out the Stranger office window than Saskatchewan gets in a decade.

@3:

Would it help any to know that's fake grass (and I don't mean "potpourri")?

Canuck 17
Really, Comte? I've been exposed as the gullible commenter recently, so I think there's a chance that is neither astroturf nor doobie contents...

@17....he's not lying Canuck. If memory serves, that stuff there is Field Turf or a variant thereof.

19
Ah, the Singles building.

Fnarf 20
@17, grass does stay green here year-round, Canuck, except on sports fields, which are permanently sand and mud. If you see a sports field that's green, you can be absolutely certain it's fake-o.

@19: nope. The Singles building is up by Miller Playfield (1820 E Thomas). This is Cal Anderson

OMG that picture brings back memories. I sucked many a dick in that park.

Canuck 24
...if you guys are all having me on, I'm going to be so sad...astroturf, really? Huh.

PaulBarwick, I would have thought artificial turf and blow jobs were mutually exclusive. I'm thinking shady glen, babbling brooks, and lots of butterflies, but then I read a lot of chick lit...

Canuck, for what it's worth I can vouch for the fakeness of the grass. And also that PaulBarwick may be speaking of the days of yore, before the park was so carefully redone, when there were games afoot all around.

Not so much any more, but plenty of artisanal ice creameries, bookstores, sex clubs and bike shops to make up for it.

Its true, gloomy gus and Canuck. That was long, long ago. I'm not sure if Astroturf had even been invented yet. I don't think that it was even called Cal Anderson park back then.

I moved from Seattle some 30 years or so ago. Seeing that photo sure brought back the memories though...

COMTE 28
@27:

It was Lincoln Park up until 2005 when the reservoir was covered over and the park built on top of it.

Bobby Morris playfield (which is what you see in the photo) is still called that, but they replaced the sod with the artificial grass. Actually, it's not that bad, not as plasticy as Astroturf, and with the drainage layer, quite pleasant to stroll across, even in a hard rain.
