Here's the good news: A Gallup poll released this morning shows that voters are 53 percent more enthusiastic than usual about voting this election cycle, which has led to a record number of early ballots being cast for a mid-term election. The bad (but unsurprising) news is that the majority of this enthusiasm comes from Republican-leaning voters. In fact, Gallup shows that there's an enthusiasm gap of 19 percentage points between Republicans and Democrats:

The record level of overall enthusiasm is primarily the result of Republicans' heightened excitement — 63% of Republicans (including Republican-leaning independents) say they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting. That not only greatly exceeds Democrats' expressed enthusiasm this year, but also is substantially higher than what Gallup has measured for either party's supporters on the eve of a midterm election.

Election night is no longer about winning voters—it's about drowning sorrows. Depressed liberals make for liberal drinkers (right?), which is why all SECB Election Night Coverage tonight will be powered by Four Loko™.

We'll be dipping baseball bats in sugar and beating each other over the head with them hitting the Four Loko™ hard before we cover the evening's best parties—but my oh my there are a lot of parties to cover: the Red Door's toast to I-1100; The Westin's Patty Murray and initiative parties; Dino Rossi's second victory party at the Bellevue Hilton, and so many more. The question is—where should we channel our drunken resources?
