Washington Hall is hosting something called "Poetry and Hip Hop Church" in about a half an hour. Geo, Macklemore, Ra Scion, Fatal Lucciano, Buffalo Madonna, State of the Artist, Hi-Life Sound System will team up with poets like Eileen Myles, Karen Finneyfrock, Storme Webber, Trent Moorman, Melanie Noel, Sarah Vap, Ed Skoog, Rachel Kessler, Rich Jensen and Don Mee Choi. This looks really neat.

And it kicks off a day's worth of Eileen Myles events. I wrote about the heart-stoppingly good Myles and her awesome new memoir/novel Inferno in this week's books section. She will also be appearing this afternoon at the Sorrento Hotel with David Shields and Ross Reynolds. That event is a discussion about "The Death of Fiction." (Because as you know, everyone stopped lying late last year.) And then if you'd like to see her all by herself, reading and signing from her new book, Myles reads this evening at Pilot Books at 8 pm.

Two local poets debut new books tonight. Crystal Curry launches her newest book at Vermillion at 5 pm. Curry is very good and a bit more non-tradionalist. Elizabeth Austen reads at Elliott Bay Book Company. Where Currents Meet is her new chapbook. She is also very good, and if your tastes run a bit more traditional, you'll probably prefer her.

Finally, Cherie Priest reads at the Northgate Barnes & Noble. Local author Priest, who is seemingly becoming more popular by the second, reads from her new sci-fi novel, Dreadnought.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
