John Koster Backs Out of Televised Debate With Rick Larsen in the Race for the 2nd Congressional District

Posted by on Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 6:43 PM

More on the surprisingly tight Koster-Larsen race in this week's Stranger, but for now here's tonight's unusual statement from KCTS-9:

KCTS 9 Statement Regarding Canceled 2nd Congressional District Debate

The debate between Representative Rick Larsen and challenger John Koster scheduled to air live on KCTS 9 on Thursday, October 21, has been canceled. Representatives from the Koster for Congress campaign informed KCTS 9 that their candidate would no longer participate without changes to the panel.

We regret that voters in Washington’s 2nd Congressional District will not have this opportunity to hear from the candidates with less than two weeks to go before the November 2 general election.

KCTS 9 will air substitute coverage of the 2nd District contest on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. For more information, visit KCTS9.org.

Were they going to ask questions about the Constitution? I know that's tripped up several candidates lately.

Koster what are you afraid of you Bible thumping whack job? Didn't you think Jaysus would keep you safe in the debate?

America would be a much safer, more secure place if we released all the non-violent offenders currently serving time and replaced them with potentially violent and likely terrorist right wing, America hating cowards like Koster, O'Donnell, Angle and that shitstain from Arizona, Governor I-Hate-Brown-People.

Why didn't they just hold the debate and give the other guy the whole hour?

Add Cathy McMorris-Rogers having to be dragged into a debate kicking and screaming, and you've got a bit of a pattern.

I thought that said John Keister for a second there.

@8 If that was the case, Larsen would be smart to drop out. Keister would destroy him, and most pols, in a stage performance.

@6 "Why didn't they just hold the debate and give the other guy the whole hour?"

That would be completely unfair!

Every couple minutes they'd need to turn to the empty podium and say, "Your rebuttal?"

This is a big fat LIBERIAL MEDIA LIE! John Koster did not cancel the debate, KCTS did! The Koster campaign asked for jerry cornfield to be replaced and then KCTS denied the request and then canceled the debate.
