THURSDAY

Bill Gates, Sr. headlines the best event of the night, the Initiative 1098 debate billing itself as "Seattle Speaks: Income Tax in Washington State?" This event is going to be such a humdinger that it's sold out, but luckily for you, you can still ask questions, vote in polls, and watch online thanks to Seattle Channel. (Participate online here, 7 to 9 p.m., free)

FRIDAY

Do you hate the deep-bore tunnel proposed to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct? Or are you unsure about how you feel, but consider yourself generally open-minded when it comes to hating on shit? Get up to speed on the issue by attending the Stop the Tunnel strategy meeting. I know I'm being immature, but every time I see that the anti-tunnel nonprofit is called SCAT, I chuckle. (Ballard Neighborhood Service Center, 5604 22nd Ave NW, 2 to 3 p.m., free)

SATURDAY

If you're incensed by recent reports of American soldiers killing Afghan civilians for sport (and keeping their fingers as trophies), attend this Saturday's rally and march against the war in Afghanistan. There will be music and street theatre included in the march. Take it away, Cat Stevens—"Everyone jump upon the peace train/Come on now peace train." (Westlake Plaza, 4th Ave and Pine, rally starts at 1 p.m., march starts at 2 p.m., all free)

SUNDAY

Back by popular demand, it's King County Council Member Bob Ferguson's 5th Annual Shrimp Feed! Guests include former governor Bob Mike Lowry and Senator Patty Murray. Let's hope there are some fat, unshelled prawns on the menu—no one looks dignified eating those suckers, not even politicians. (Northgate Community Center, 10510 5th Ave NE, 3 to 5 p.m., free, donations welcome—all proceeds go to the Bob Ferguson campaign)
