I'm currently editing down an interview I had with Kevin McCollum, one of the few Broadway producers who didn't inherit or make his money in some other way—banking or whatever—and one of the only Broadway producers doing anything worth a crap. He's the man who found and bankrolled RENT, Avenue Q, and The Drowsy Chaperone. I've proclaimed Broadway a boneyard of the imagination and was delighted to discover that he didn't strongly disagree.

So in honor of Kevin McCollum and Monday morning, please enjoy a few songs from Avenue Q—"It Sucks to Be Me," "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist," and (my favorite) "Schadenfreude":

Watching a vegetarian be told she just ate chicken,
Or watching a frat boy realize just what he put his dick in.
Being on an elevator when somebody shouts 'hold the door!' NO!
Schadenfreude! Fuck you, lady, that's what stairs are for!

My conversation with McCollum is coming in this week's issue.
