Liberace.jpg
The Liberace Museum in Vegas is closing.

I was there just months ago and I did not go, never believing the Liberace legacy could be in jeopardy!

Jen, thanks for posting the link - it mentions something I'd forgotten, that Steven Soderbergh plans a biopic with Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as his oofy boytoy.

Which I can't wait to love or love to hate.

That is so so sad and culturally relevant to us all. It should have even been in the Seattle business news.

Cry though just for Keifer today. Every work of his I've seen in person is a massive kingdom's dearth.

Bauhaus I 4
Meh...who cares? Lying, closeted piece of shit telling everybody he was anemic from a watermelon diet as they were loading him into the ambulance for the last time. And his sort of opulence is in very poor taste these days unless you're a drooling half-wit. I know I'm speaking for my self, but no way am I going to go ogle the wealth of a lying, closeted piece of shit.

Reverse Polarity 5
@1, I've been waiting for that movie too. It has the potential to be fantastic... or fantastically bad. Either way, worth seeing.

@4, you left out HILARIOUS. Hilarious poor taste.

Why don't they move to Branson? Seems like a MO-brainer.

Bring it to the Seattle Center. A vanity museum is sure to attract hundreds of thousands of tourists and millions of tax dollars a year. Of course, the gift shop needs to be recyclable.

Let's see.

Liberace: Most highly-paid entertainer of his time. Somewhat talented. Wears ridiculous outfits. Sued multiple parties for libel for implying that he was homosexual. Died of AIDS, claiming that his weight loss was due to a "watermelon diet".

Lady Gaga: Most successful entertainer of her time. Exceptionally talented. Wears ridiculous outfits. Openly bisexual. Attributes much of her success to her gay fans, and has performed/spoken at numerous LGBT events.

Only one of these people seems worthy of respect, and it ain't Liberace.

I've been. It was very shiny, and housed in a depressing, broke-ass ugly Vegas commercial building.

I visited it once years ago with a friend, just for grins. Its located in a depressing old strip-mall probably a mile east of the Strip, housed in 2 separate small buildings. It was slightly amusing to go through just for the heck of it, to check out the tackily exuberant cars / pianos / costumes.

Reminds me of the original Roy Rogers museum moving to Branson after years in Victorville, then finally closing. Even Graceland will have to close eventually.
