Friday in Iran

Posted by on Fri, Sep 3, 2010 at 12:37 PM

It's Al Quds Day—a day of support for Palestine—and AJ is not happy about the latest Israel/Palestine peace talks, saying the only path for the Palestinians is "resistance." People cheered. But people always cheer for AJ. He pays them to.

And, for a sideshow, please enjoy a moment midway through this interview that seems like a bit from the Daily Show.

Meanwhile, the Basij celebrated Al Quds in their customary fashion:

Meanwhile, pro-government militiamen attacked the home of an Iranian opposition leader with home-made bombs and beat one of his bodyguards unconscious in an apparent attempt to keep him from attending a key rally.

Mahdi Karroubi's guards had to fire gunshots in the air to clear crowds that broke down the door of his home on Thursday night after days of gatherings outside, said the Sahamnews website, which supports Iran's pro-reform movement.

Resistance is an option for Palestinians as the Oslo treaty, because it clearly defined boarders in the West Bank & Gaza, but for some odd reason, the Palestinians have to negotiate what is cleared deigned in the treaty, one that both parties signed.

Whatever peace treaty is agreed and signed in the coming year, may be stalled by Israel and we'll go through this process once again, all the while west bank land becomes further occupied by Israeli settlers, who are just as crazy as Ahmadinejad. So why negotiate for what is clearly theirs, when you can resit and fight for the land, worked for Israel in 1948. They resisted the Arab armies and took the land that was allocated to them and alot more. Each time Arab armies cross into Israel, they get their asses kicked and Israel annexes more land. To the victor go the spoils! Unless its artwork stolen by Nazis, then that needs to be returned.

I can't believe that first link is to a Voice of America article. Way to promote the government's official propaganda abortion.

Did Stephanopoulos really think he was going to get a response to his dimwitted question? How can someone so uncharismatic sit down with a man as formidable as Ahmadinejad? Put this on failblog.

What the fuck are you talking about? Israel took over the West Bank/Gaza in 1967. Read a fucking history book for Christ's sake.

And, by the way, Israel was dissatisfied with but still willing to accept the terms of the 1948 partition. It was the Palestinians who rose up and guaranteed that they wouldn't get their own state.

Hey, Keshmeshi. Read Israeli historian Ilan Pappe's book The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine and then come back and make some comments.
