Ducks Gather In Barrel

...and New Left Media can't resist shooting. (My favorite quote: "I've never heard Glenn Beck be disrespectful to the president.")

It's amazing how successful Fox News and the like have managed to get all of these people to recite soundbites and yet nobody seems to have anything of substance rolling around in their brains that they can cite to back up these soundbites. But I'm sure all that was all edited out by this here New Left Media, huh?

Wow, just wow. Seriously, that is like looking at the home video of a serial killer, to see how that type of person develops. It is telling that a number of the older people feel that the States is no longer "teaching pride in America" in schools (which I think is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to seeing beyond the "us and them" mentality that is so common in the States, at least in certain areas,) and that they feel there is no other example of a country that is "a bastion of hope," only the States, and if it goes down, the rest of the world will follow ("except for China," yellow shirt guy says, "their economy is doing pretty well.) It's scary how many of these people are out there.

I have to hand out a kudos to the interviewer, for keeping a straight face while listening to this garbage, and for remaining professional while talking to these idiots.

5, you're not supposed to have pride in this country anymore. It's right out of the 1984 playbook. They want all whites to hate themselves and embrace the globalist economy. Modern day commies like Charles are full of race resentment, they realize that the white man, who they claim to hate (but are obsessed with) have done way, way, way more for humanity than any other race and that the minorities they claim to represent (but are just using, fully well aware of them having lower IQ's on average) haven't really done much of anything. They know the black was here first and didn't even invent a wheel, let alone a language or religion.

Entirely old white people, 40+ in age. That guy with the mullet and goatee looks like late 30s. The groups shots show a few bored kids and teens that appear dragged along.

Time and generations are still the big fight, and the non-lunatic sides are winning there.

I just went back and watched again (I deserve a freakin' medal!) without sound.

1 black man @ 2:13 - 2:20, 8:23 - 8:31, 8:37 - 8:38, 9:06 - 9:43 & 9:53 - 10:01 near the interviewer's tie.
1 black man @ 2:52 - 2:54 behind the subject
1 woman - possibly Indian? @ 4:59 - 5:24 between the subject & interviewer
1 Asian woman @ 6:13 - 6:24 walks across the background
1 black man @ 7:20 - 7:24 walking in background
1 black woman @ 9:46 - 9:53 sitting on the steps

That's diversity for you -- and mind you, at no time were there two non-white faces in the shot at any one time.

These people freak me the fuck out!

@15: But it's not. It's Washington, DC; one of the most diverse cities in the country and the anniversary and location of one of the hallmark events of African American culture. If this movement were truly inclusive, you'd think the make up of the crowd would be a little bit different.

@22 - I can usually spot an Onion story pretty well, but honestly? An interview like that could easily appear in our local paper or on the news when it comes to the issue of the "Ground Zero Mosque." That's...kind of terrifying, actually.

Although I like to point and laugh and the loonies on the right as much as the next person, I am uncomfortably aware that if you had asked similar questions at the DC anti-war rally I attended in 2002 you could have found any number of idiot lefties in the crowd.

Picking on tards at a Glen Beck rally is pretty damn easy. But you have to ask, why is there a "barrel"? Working people have been fucked over in this country for decades by both parties.
-middle class income has been stagnant for years
-"Free trade" has fucked over a people who used to be able to support a family by working with their hands
-a decent education, now a requirement in our society, is increasingly out of reach

Meanwhile, a feckless, amoral bunch of Ivy League "elites" get bailed out to the tune of 700 billion and counting. Their asses are covered, no matter what.

Easy to see why they are pissed off. The fact that these guys interviewed a bunch of incoherent twits doesn't mean the movement doesn't have legitimate complaints.

It would have been nice to create a sheet (or better yet, a dvd) of Glenn Beck quotes to hand out to the folks making that claim. Have somebody follow behind the interviewer and hand them out. Tell them that there is a prize of some sort, and there is information on the dvd telling them how to enter the drawing.

26: Yes, the complaints that you mention (and the folks in the video fail to bring up) are legit, but they are supporting the party who brought all of that down on their heads. Is it economic Stockholm Syndrome? Or is it proof positive of the success of The Big Lie?

Well, I only got to the five-minute mark before I realized the interviewees were like a bunch of college students who - instead of pulling an all-nighter for the next day's exam, simply came to class unprepared, opened their blue books and began spewing out convoluted bullshit, hoping that their professor was some sort of dumbass who would fail to realize his students didn't know what the fuck they were talking about.

@20 I'm willing to bet that conservative talk radio also gives these people a lot of their arguments. My dad listens to it regularly on his drive to work, and some of the stuff they said about the mosque was very similar to things he's said. (He is not actually opposed to it being built, though.) You wouldn't believe the bullshit some conservative radio hosts spew down here.

Oh, and let's not forget forwarded emails. Many of the older people in my extended family are conservative (they're old Texans, so this is expected), and there are STILL emails floating around that claim that Obama lied about being a citizen, and those aren't even the craziest ones. They will cling to anything they see in their inboxes/hear on the radio rather than do a quick fact check.

My favorite quote from the video was, "I just know what my sister tells me." Conservative politics 101: word of mouth is the holy grail of truth.

There will always be stupid people, sigh. The real question is, WHO is so vigorously manipulating them right now, and WHY?

Anyone who has not already read Jane Mayer's piece in the New Yorker ("Covert Operations") please read immediately: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/… All those seemingly idiotic talking points have been carefully crafted in think-tanks, designed to confuse the public and sway debate on specific issues like environmental regulation. The money for this is mostly coming from - drumroll - petroleum and chemical interests.

If you've been wondering what's in the Tea - it's oil and formaldehyde.
