Finally, a Winner Will Be Declared in the Long-Standing Battle of Cake Vs. Pie

Tonight cake takes on pie in an epic battle of tastiness. Local professional and amateur bakers are presenting their favorite cakes and pies to a panel of judges at the CakeSpy Shop and one ultimate winner will be declared.

Will it be team cake? Or will it be team pie?

Find out tonight at the CakeSpy Gallery. The baked goods are presented at 6 pm, the judging begins at 7 pm. The event is free, but you should get there early—the Cakespy (and owner of the shop) Jessie Oleson, says "based on the response I don't think the sweets are gonna last long!"

I'm torn. I loves me some cheesecake, but pumpkin pie is oh so lovely. But is cheesecake really a pie in disguise?

As long as it has chocolate in it, I don't care.

I'm undecided.

Can I have both?

Enigma @2: Think of cheesecake as key lime pie without the key limes.

I swing both ways. In this regard, I mean.

I think that (in general, of course) women like cake and men like pie.

Teams soufflé and macaroon were eliminated in the previous round.

Give me cake! Cake = full of sugar. Pie = full of fruit.

Sugar>Fruit.

I rest my case.

Mike 16
Megan: are you going to bring "team cake" and "team pie" buttons to Slog Happy? You could triple the size of my button collection in one fell stroke.

Oh, and pie all the way. Cake is way too often just a dry, spongy delivery mechanism for awful frosting.

Megan Seling 17
@16 I am not, but you can get them at the CakeSpy shop! I think they're a $1 or $1.25. I'll know after tonight's Cake vs. Pie event.

Nobody stays up all night going back to the left-over pie, ew. Cake forevah, especially chocolate.

Banna 19
@18: That's because there's no such thing as "left-over pie".

Cake all the way.

@10,

Key lime pie doesn't have cheese. Cheesecake doesn't have sweetened condensed milk.

dwight: I am a woman and I say pie all the way!! Foo to your gender stereotypes!

(Also, I don't really care about chocolate. I am hoping this helps make me the polar opposite of Cathy.)

Pie all the way for this girl. Just picked about 5 gal of blueberries and I'm having winter-pie fantasies.

The only pies I like are the ones you can tell wish they were cake.

Because cake is made entirely out of awesome.

Remember Spaghetti Reds, that used to be on the Hill? I simply loved their multi-layered Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

It was to die for.
