Hollywood Burlesque

Posted by on Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 8:24 AM

"When you are putting on makeup, it's like you're an artist. But instead of painting on canvas, you're painting a face."

"I've never seen anything like this before and I really want to be a part of it!"

Move over, Marc Vorlander and Rena Riffel: The true sequel to Showgirls has arrived.

Holy crap, is Cher in a vaseline glow for the whole movie? Can she move any part of her face? She doesn't even move her lips when she talks. And does Aquilera get her tits out? Because that's the only part of her I want to see, or hear. Unless she dances in a golden shower of pee like that video she did.

This needs to become an outing...or three.

I loved "Soundtrack Producer: David May (Laura Branigan)".

I saw the preview for this. Experience from all my personal burlesque outings left me thinking that "Hollywood Burlesque" must be an entirely different species from our own North West version that I want nothing to do with.

I'm intrigued.

When are they going to make this movie about lap dancing?

And I really think it's time for Cher to start making horror movies in the tradition of Davis and Crawford!

If this movie was serious all of the dancers would be 200 pounds.

Nice try Hollywood.

@8 Look, not everything can be perfect. They have to work with what they can get.

People in LA don't give a shit about stage performance.

Isn't Aguilera in her 30s now? A little ripe to play the small-town ingenue arriving by bus (bus? Really?)?

Does Stanley Tucci only ever play the guy behind the scenes who carries all the weight for whoever he works for in a smart-ass, self-confident manner?

TheMisanthrope 14
@11 She is actually only 29. She turns 30 in December.

She's just been around for so long that most stars would be older.

Couldn't care less about the movie, which I won't see for at least a year, if ever. But this FUCKIN' ROCKS (along with everything else on disc 2 of "Back To Basics")

As for Cher--well, I thought she could act before, maybe she still can.

"Alice welcome to wonderland" How fucking lame.

And how old is Cher these days? Is she trying to give Jaon Rivers competition?

This is not for me, but many people will see it.

David...please oh please...i see it in big bright lights: DOUBLE FEATURE: SHOWGIRLS + BURLESQUE with David Schmader. You wouldn't even have to see the movie as there is plenty of material in the preview alone. Its the beginning of the end of Burlesque.

I'll give it a shot. After all, 5 minutes of trailer time doesn't mean shit. And boy, most of you people are real ugly. How nasty the world's gotten. Everyone's a fuckin critic yet none contribute to anything better - And I think Cher looks fine and is still a good actress.
