Thanks again to everyone who came out to the Sunset to hear Gary Shteyngart read last night, and apologies to everyone who didn't get in. The good news is that you have a second chance if you missed him last night: He'll be reading at Third Place Books tonight at 7. He's funny and smart and I have first-hand proof that he can step around a stupid question so gracefully that you never even notice that your question was stupid until several hours later.

If you've already seen Mr. Shteyngart, Michael Byers reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Byers' new book, Percival's Planet, is a novel about the discovery of Pluto. It's getting some good reviews, and Pluto, of course, has seen its share of controversy in recent years. You might want to go and find out what all the hubbub is about.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
