Maple Leaf Greek restaurant Divine closed last Friday. Despite good reviews and tons of Stranger reader-review love, things had been slow—more info (and the owner's recipe for pastichio) from Nancy Leson.

Add Divine to the longer-than-usual RIP list over here, which has a couple other surprises (like Avila in Wallingford, King Creole in Madrona, Marcus' Martini Heaven in Pioneer Square, and, it looks like, the Buckaroo in Fremont).

Seattle restaurant openings have been outstripping closures (often by a LOT) this spring and summer (see here, here, here, and here). I'm no economist, but it doesn't seem like the city's population is swelling with new people with extra money falling out of their pockets, and the recovery isn't exactly happening fast. It stands to reason that things are going to get worse before they get better for some restaurants. In a word: yikes.
