Yesterday On The Vegas Strip

GetEQUAL strikes again...

...and, no, you're not a bad person for thinking Dan Choi looks good in handcuffs. He spends a lot of time in 'em and he wears 'em better than most.

Handcuffs, hell. I'm glad to see him looking good at last - in those civvies. Our military uniforms are just not flattering.

plz ....... although i do have to admit that the more the people see and put up with
this the more clearer the selfishness becomes. So in that sense, Choi must be thanked.

Awesome, but the video should have started at :30. Maybe the overemotional stuff appeals to some, but I'd rather see it afterwards if I have to...

Things I have learned from Loveschild #47: wanting to ensure that you can't be fired just because you're gay is selfish.

Very cool! If they chose to do anything (anything at all) in Minneapolis I'll happily stand up and get arrested with them!

And as a straight woman, Dan Choi IS hot and I wouldn't mind handcuffing him myself. /sigh

Dan may be glad to see LC back, but he's WAY more tolerant than I. Personally I'd love to see her crawl back under her rock.

Hey, LC welcome back! How did you guys enjoy rehab or lock-up or the Tea Party convention or wherever you-all have been?

No, no selfishness whatsoever.

Besides the inconsiderate traffic jams of people trying to go to or from work or others enjoying their vacation on city struggling financially, there's also the fact that choi just wanted nothing more than to bring attention to the reality that today due to his continued affronts against our military he has no longer a job. Surprise, surprise. Not that he was doing any work to begin with since he has been more preocupied with his little media seeking attention arrests. No gay militancy at all, it's not about "him", nope, no selfishness.

While I appreciate bold protests, the biggest consequence of this one seems to be getting several thousand Vegas commuters to suddenly oppose ENDA.

@11 Yeah, those poor people stuck in a traffic jam for a half hour, they're the real victims here.

It's pure selfishness to inconvenience some people for an hour in an attempt to obtain equality. How selfish of them to want the same civil liberties afforded to straight people.

What was the length of loveschild's* selfless service to her country? I assume she's comparing her own time of active duty overseas to Lt Choi's. What rank did she attain, and where was she stationed?

* I know "she's" too dishonest to answer, just as we know loveschild is more than one person. Note the differences in style and structure between lc@3 and lc@11. "More clearer" just cut me to the quick this morning - do homophobes believe that following the basic rules of English grammar is somehow unchristian?

I have to agree with 12. The handcuffing to the fence of the White House was awesome, and more importantly, it made sense. This doesn't, and I think about the people in that mess trying to get to work, trying to pick up their kids from daycare, trying to get home to their families, etc., and this just seems like a shitty idea.

Why the fuck doesn't someone just ban Loveschild already? What does this website gain by allowing her to keep making her dumb ass troll posts?

While I am extremely sympathetic to the cause for a number of reasons, in Boston they'd have been beaten with billyclubs and pepper sprayed, and then the police might show up.

You want to hit the Senator in the balls? Handcuff yourself to a slot machine and an LDS church, don't block traffic, assholes.

@17 I think they keep LC around because it makes things more interesting this way. Only LC can make such utterly stupid posts.

PS Won't someone please think of those poor commuters? Ignore those people who have/might lose their jobs for being gay, those commuters are the real victims.

Awww LC, did you miss us? I'm sure your absence was entirely due to being deployed in service to our country. After all, you wouldn't shit on a servicemember like Choi if you weren't going to put your straight ass in the line of fire as he did, would you?

I'm sorry Choi has finally been kicked out because him being gay counts more than his service to his country. Hopefully he'll be able to re-enlist once this madness is over. The many gay men and women fighting and dying for a country that mistreats them so horribly owe you a debt of gratitude Ltd.

I think the people pointing out that the suffering of oppressed LGBT people is more significant than that of inconvenienced commuters are missing the point.

The point is that the protest has targeted the wrong people. This protest was ostensibly meant to call Reid out, but all it did was piss off a random, anonymous selection of commuters. How pointless. This organization knows how to do it right, so it's disappointing to see them pull bush league maneuvers like this.

Thank you for saying that Dan Savage! Dan Choi is all over the place doing important work and looking damn hot while doing it but I feel shallow commenting on it. I keep hoping he'll stage a protest that involves swimwear.

@Loveschild I know right, it's so selfish. Just like those selfish black people, making it so that decent people at Woolworth's couldn't just get their lunches. Taking up all the seats, making the place into a media spectacle, when other people just wanted to get a bite to eat.

So selfish of them.

Your right to get married doesn't trump my right to pick my kids up from school on time. If you expect the support of Joe Heterosexual (which you need to elect politicians who support gay rights), don't fuck up our commute and then tearfully call the assholes who have tied up traffic "heroes." There are a million publicity stunts that don't involve alienating the breeders.

Oh, and #23? Black protestors sitting at Woolworths, waiting to get arrested (and likely get the mortal shit beat out of them), were making the point that they should be allowed to do the same thing as whites, namely sit at the same lunch counter. As far as I know, we breeders don't have the right to disrupt traffic.

Loveschild?? I guess it was urban legend that she got banned from The Stranger. I halfway thought she'd rerolled as Confluence just to put a bug up Dan's ass.

Ooh, let's have fun speculating where she's been the past few months. I'm going with: husband took away her internet.

I'd feel mean painting her in black and white like that, but I can't quite believe she's a real person and not a church group trying to save the sinners of The Stranger On. Every. Thread. (again).
