Whales and Produce and Sculpture

Posted by on Thu, Jul 15, 2010 at 4:30 PM

I just got a call telling me of strange sounds in the parking garage of the Olympic Sculpture Park: that's the Mungo Thomson sound installation of whale sounds sped up to sound like birds and vice verse, finally up and running.

Tonight till 7:30 is the inaugural farmers market at the park, too. Is it any good? Let me know.

Who cares?

Have you seen the cool mural the kids are painting at N 46th under the SR-99 overpass?

great turnout tonight at the osp. farmer's market started out slowish but seemed very well attended as the evening wore on. the live salsa music + amazing weather surely drew a lot of people in, too.

been to a few summer programs at osp so far this year and have really enjoyed them. great use of the venue.

Really disappointing. Nothing but beets and berries. There were about 40 (?) produce vendors and they all had the same produce. Must've really sucked for them. How do you compete?

It was actually a pretty good mix of fruits, vegetables and the other food (cheese, pasta, bread, etc.) you get at farmer's markets. They had a vendor selling about 25 different flavors of ice cream bars dipped in chocolate. Inside, they have both a "cocktail of the week" for sale, and you could taste a flight of 4 wines for $5. Plus, it's an incredibly beautiful setting. All in all, a great thing for those of us who work/live nearby. If you want to do serious grocery shopping, perhaps you should head to the Pike Place Market?
